Not really an AIBU but posting here for traffic (plus I couldn't find chat 😂)

I desperately need to earn some money fast. I've advertised in local area to take in ironing, applied for loads and loads of jobs. Been offered one but it doesn't start until 20th November.

What can I do in the meantime to earn some money?

I find starting threads on the Internet in the hope that some gullible kind souls will offer a few quid works occasionally.

Oysterbabe · 26/10/2018 09:11

Do you have anything you can sell?

Racecardriver · 26/10/2018 09:13

If yoh buy clothes that are pretty much sold out you can sell them on eBay for a profit. Places left or M&S or H&M have this often.

BunsOfAnarchy · 26/10/2018 09:13

Webcamming Grin

BunsOfAnarchy · 26/10/2018 09:13

Alternatively. Shpock any unwanted/unused items

cricketmum84 · 26/10/2018 09:15

Haha @Grimbles rest assured I do not want your money 😂 just some ideas!

I've started a clear out and put some stuff on Facebook selling sites and eBay, not much interest yet though.

Webcamming.... trust me nobody wants to see this 😂

Have you considered match betting?
I did it a couple of years back and made nearly £1000 in 4-5 weeks.
It got too time consuming in the end for me though but if you only work part time or not at all would be ideal.

Elle087 · 26/10/2018 09:16

matched* betting

cricketmum84 · 26/10/2018 09:16

@Elle087 really?? I have read about match betting a few times but can't work out how it works! I certainly didn't realise you could make that much!
Back to google I go!

How much do you need to make and how much time do you have? I'm presuming this is a one off crisis sort of thing.

BloodyDraculcasonthis · 26/10/2018 09:19

Offer 'services' in exchange for cash.
I could think of a few I'd pay you for..
Nothing too degrading or kinky...

Wink

How much to 'Mow my lawn?'
Or 'Scrub my pots?'
Or 'Vacuum my Rug?'

(Jeez I must be getting lonely, even house work is starting to sound sexy...)

3luckystars · 26/10/2018 09:21

Sell stuff.

Rent out a room.

cricketmum84 · 26/10/2018 09:22

Yes one off crisis. All my own doing, stupidly resigned from my nightmare of a job without having anything else in place.

Ideally need to be finding £100 a week for about a month. My husband works although low paid admin job and can cover the mortgage and bills so it's just everyday life money and feeding 2 kids that I need to be able to cover.

ZackPizzazz · 26/10/2018 09:25

Get on your local Facebook site and see if anyone is seeking help with baby-sitting/assembling furniture/cleaning/manual labour.

Lockheart · 26/10/2018 09:26

Could you advertise as a cleaner or join a cleaning agency? They start pretty quickly and you wouldn’t have to work a lot to get £100 a week; if you get £8 an hour then that would be 2 days a week full time.

MrsA2015 · 26/10/2018 09:28

Can you bake? See if friends and family need some help cooking/cleaning and charge per hour.

It’s worked for me a couple of times especially nearer festive season

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 26/10/2018 09:30

If you have a spare room, consider lodgers or Airbnb

There are some apps like Jobtoday and Syft for one shift at a time temping, though I haven't tried them

This app is good for free & discounted food on a cashback basis, though it takes about a week for the money to be returned to you. I've had all sorts; this link gives you a free jar of Nutella www.shopmium.com/uk/referral/ec8ni

If musically talented, consider busking

Sell stuff on Gumtree - underused kitchen appliances, old kids toys etc.

Have you looked at the Money Saving Expert website?

BlueJava · 26/10/2018 09:33

What about a temping agency? eg. care worker, driver, admin, secretary... (depending on skills). There will also be retail work leading up to Xmas I guess. Plus it doesn't stop you facebooking/shpocking/ebaying stuff either. Good luck!

OrdinarySnowflake · 26/10/2018 11:15

Temping agencies - care work will probably need a DBS check through, but admin/office temping worth signing up for.

Dog walking also pays surprisingly well. Ask in local pubs/restaurants.

cricketmum84 · 26/10/2018 13:07

I could definitely do dog walking. I'm crap at cleaning, my idea of housework is moving piles of crap from one room to the other! And no musical talent so busking is out.
I have 2 young kids so even if we did have a spare room I wouldn't feel comfortable with a lodger.

On the plus side I posted a vintage dress I've had in the back of the wardrobe for 2 years on a vintage Facebook selling site this morning and it went for £45 within 10 minutes so I'm almost halfway there for this week!

Amazon customer service. Work from home. Pay not terrible and you can get hours when your DC are sleeping.

PositiveVibez · 26/10/2018 13:39

See if friends and family need some help cooking/cleaning and charge per hour

I really couldn't imagine saying to my sister, do u want a hand cleaning your house? Oh yes please, says she, 'okay, that will be £8 per hour's says me. 'FUCK OFF', says she 😂

MatildaTheCat · 26/10/2018 13:39

Babysitting?
Leaf clearing for neighbours?
Bar work.
Any friends who need extra help with their business or home life?
Offer to sell on eBay or fb for other people and take 10-20% commission.

Cornettoninja · 26/10/2018 13:43

Bar work is still a fairly ‘walk in and work’ kind of industry. It’s whether they need the staff though.

Regnamechanger · 26/10/2018 13:44

People often say they are crap at housework... but cleaning is just like any other job, you learn to do it. I used to clean, and I'd still say that my housework is crap at home. Grin
There is always work available for cleaners and it's a quick way to make money, so that would be my recommendation too.
