I had one 3 years ago, uterus and cervix removed. No regrets at all.

MrsMaryMooFace · 26/10/2018 19:08

lynmilne65 why is it a pointless thread?

Chilver · 26/10/2018 19:22

Why pointless???Confused

gendercritter · 26/10/2018 19:46

How rude to say it's pointless. Of course it isn't.

OP I'm sorry. I know I'll get some flack for this because some people hate everything being brought back to the trans issue but we are facing an epidemic of young women having hysterectomies because of being 'trans' and actually it's stories like yours that need telling because some of those women will face similar issues and for no physical reason even.

I think a hysterectomy sounds like a very major surgery and I know I'd find it difficult if it was being recommended I have one. I hope things improve for you in time. I can well imagine there are lots of downsides.

lynmilne65 don't be so bloody rude! If you don't like it, piss off to another thread.

Beanfield · 26/10/2018 22:18

I’m having one next month and I don’t think it pointless at all. I like to weigh up all opinions and experiences.

Zippytydoodar · 26/10/2018 22:19

I didn't have a choice it was that or my leg/life. It didn't really affect me at first to be honest. I didn't feel any different any Les womanly.
But I've not been the same since I'm always tired, my body owner as strong and I'm always tired. I've also just started getting nausea everyday.
Of course this could be completely unrelated but I tend to blame everything on the hysterectomy.

I would have thought they don't do them unless absolutely necessary, so to regret isn't even an option. For me anyway.

notapizzaeater · 26/10/2018 22:22

@Chilver - have you asked ? I had ovarian cancer and had the whole lot out and my consultant told my gp to prescribe me hrt patches.

Zippytydoodar · 26/10/2018 22:23

And my brain doesn't work like it used to!!

Arsparsley · 26/10/2018 22:25

Yes. A bowel perforation almost killed me and only an emergency right hemicolectomy saved my life, but not without consequences.
The hysterectomy was for severe endometriosis but I would much rather have lived with that than what happened.
I was 42 ; and now have diagnosed PTSD due to the appalling consequences and live with the physical and emotional repercussions and suffer vaginal dystrophy , severe scarring , bowel problems. I live every day with the outcome.

Please think very carefully. It is major surgery, and things can go wrong. I wasn’t lucky and fully realise I probably was in an unlucky minority, but please, do fully investigate and consider your outcomes and options.
Very good wishes for what you do decide.
