Just wondering whats the weirdest thing youve experienced after remembering a very weird thing that happebed to me, I was in the park once a few years ago where I lived (quite a rough area) I was alone in the park except for my 2 children. I was pushing them both on the swings when 2 women and a couple of children walked past. As they approached where I was at the swings (they were on the outside of the park which is on the middle of a housing estate) One of the women stopped and shouted at me “Thats my baby!!” to my son in the swing, he was about 8 months at the time, I looked at her thinking it was some sort of weird joke, and said in a jokey way as didnt know what else to say “im pretty sure I remember giving birth to him” well she didnt react at all and just stood there with the straightest face and repeated “thats my baby!!” at this point I didnt respond. She then just stood there resting on the gate staring at me trying to intimidate me. The weirdst thing was she was with another woman and some kids and none of them said anything, I felt really intimidated and she was just glaring at me and I couldnt leave the park as she was by the gates, so I called my brother. Eventually the other woman and kids began to walk away which encouraged her to! It was the weirdest thing ive ever experienced and luckily never bumped into her again although I Did avoid that park after that. Anyone got any weird things that has happened to them?

Told this before on here. This was in 1992. Pre mobiles (except bricks like the Vodafone) I ran a pub in Bristol, which was old and said to be inhabited by a monk (called Bob, but that was more a way to give the strangeness a familiar name than any historical accuracy).
Bob hid keys. You'd find them in the sink behind the bar.
Bob enjoyed a prank - didn't happen to me but to the most level headed person I've ever known, the cleaner : she put all the chairs upside down on the tables as you do so you can hoover - went to get the hoover and what do you know, the chairs are back in place.
What did happen to me was this. We had an internal phone system, called a PABX. There were four extensions. Bar, office, upstairs(domestic) living quarters, and bedroom. Each extension was simply two numbers. 23, 24, 21, 22.
The bar phone rang after hours. It was a different ringtone for internal calls - very advanced for those days - and I picked up to hear strangled breathing. I wasn't freaked out as we had a temporary guest staying upstairs, but I was very worried thinking he was having an asthma attack and had called down for help but was unable to speak. So we rushed upstairs... To find him sound asleep.
Also... we had never told him the internal extension numbers. And they weren't written on the phones. You had to know them...

On holidays with dh in a foreign country. Woke up in the night and thought someone was sitting on the end of the bed, really freaked me out. Next morning at breakfast my dh really quiet, asked him what was wrong and he said this sounds crazy but I felt there was someone standing in our room last night. Got a phone call a few hours later to say dh dad had a stroke and nearly died. I don’t think it was a coincidence.

At the top of the road where I grew up there is a big green with benches and then a huge Forrest beside a river. It's lovely.
Anyway, very very late one night myself and my friend were sitting in the bench in the pitch dark (probably smoking) when we heard this noise coming towards us.
It was horses and they ran past us really fast, but completely avoided us and the bench. They were going so fast and no way could have seen us but went on both sides of us and just galloped on past us into the Forrest.
We never saw them again.

When I was bout 10 I remember my mum and sad were rather bemused that our kitchen clock, lounge clock, bedside table clocks and both of their watches (a mix of digital and analogue) had all stopped at exactly the same time (eg 2.27am) during the night.

One of the oddest things that happened to me was finding a box of books left on my road that I took home. Mostly ordinary old orange Penguin paperbacks, but with an odd short-run published book about Rosicrucians (a weird Christian cult), one on mineralology, a book on 'self deception' in psychology and a title called 'Sex and the Intelligent teenager', which I've read some of and is a very peculiar and not very comprehensible load of opinions of the author (one Colin Wilson, who wrote one successful novel The Outsiders, and afterwards only oddities like this). Whoever owned these books had some very peculiar interests!

When my friend and I were 17 we gave a lift to a woman laden down with shopping bags and struggling along in the rain. It quickly became clear she was drunk , stroking my friends long curly hair while she was driving telling us both how lovely we were. We accepted her invitation for a cup of tea at her house , we sat there for about an hour while she rambled on with tales about sleeping with various men for money. She was making us feel nervous and when she asked us if we wanted to stay the night we were scared to say no. She showed us to a normal looking bedroom with a double bunk bed and we could hear her banging around upstairs and drinking again. We looked out of the window and the whole garden wall was covered in barbed wire we got panicky and decided we had to get out. Just then we heard the front door open as we stood at the top of the stairs there was a rough looking bloke by the door, she was telling him we had come to stay and she was pleading and begging him not to hurt us he was drunk too and was leering at us. We knew we had to think quick when we realised there were 3 locked bolts on the door. We managed to escape and all these years later I still can’t believe how stupid we were and dread to think what might have happened to us Shock

I have had three that stick with me.

  1. Our neighbor when I was a baby built a swimming pool for his son after he was paralysed in an accidental, it was an ugly building that took up all their back garden and had really high Windows. When I was a toddler I vividly remember seeing a clown (🤡 actually looked like this) cleaning the windows.
2.at 16 I got a Saturday job at Tesco's. 4 of us started on the same day in different departments, we were all born in the same hospital on the same day, we did some research and were the only 4 babies born there that day. Such a coincidence.
  1. I went to see my sister who was living in London when we were in our late 20s. We were walking through Wapping, near her apartment and across the park we saw our mum, wearing her old black coat and with a distinctive scarf my sister had bought her in New York. Both of us saw her and waved, she was staring at us and waved back, then walked away. Thinking it was weird that she had walked away and weird she was in Ealing not at home 60 miles away, we phoned her mobile, she was at home. It freaked both of us out and neither of us are remotely woo.

A few years ago I was on holiday with my parents in a very old barn. My Dad is very careful with money and lost a £20 note which was folded neatly in his phone case, we were all looking for it and in the end my lovely mum decided to end his suffering and fold one of her notes in the same way and we pretended we found it for him..he was a very happy man! Several hours later he found £20 under a rocking chair, not folded like his. Then he went to bed and someone had left £20 on his pillow..we were all blaming each other, laughing but no one was confessing to the prank. The next morning he woke up and there was another one on his pillow. And then again on his last night..all of asking each other who it was. Still now 3 years later everyone swears (me, mum and brother) that it wasn't any of us and I believe them. It wasn't me, mt brother is unbelievably tight and my mum was nearly crying in fear 🤣. The automatic lights kept going on in the hallway too!

3luckystars · 25/10/2018 21:45

What was the address of the barn? I need to book in!

Years ago a friend and I were walking back to her third floor flat, where she lived alone. You could see it from the road and when we got nearby we could see that there was someone in her flat, moving around.

We ran into the flat and found the front door locked from the inside. We ran round the back, on the phone to the police, where there was a balcony to see a guy jumping from the balcony down to the floor below and beyond until he ran away. We think that he must have had a master key to all of the flats and he was never caught.

The weird part is that he had left a bag on the sofa with some home made sandwiches, and a bottle of babycham. Not quite a swag bag Grin

DrMadelineMaxwell · 25/10/2018 21:52

A mnet linked one...

I read a thread title once entitled Can anyone remember this book I loved as a child?
Immediately a book title popped into my head. Not the most well known book.

It was called When Marnie Was There.

The poster was describing that exact book and I was able to give them the title.

I used to work as a Social Services Homehelp & tended to see the same clients at the same time every week. One week a particular couple were poorly & didn’t need me to do their shopping. At the very time I would have been in the butchers a lorry went out of control & crashed into the shop, partially demolishing it & killing a woman in the car parked outside. I could have been badly injured or killed if I had been buying their usual weekly chicken. Not sure if that counts as weird but my blood ran cold when I heard what happened.

tigercub50 · 25/10/2018 21:57

Another one which I don’t know if it’s weird or spooky - years ago there was a channel 4 advert for “ The Scream” & every time I watched it, the tv switched itself off at exactly the same point! Needless to say, I never dared go to see the film!

Oopsusernamealreadytaken · 25/10/2018 22:10

No really odd but when my oldest was little (up to about the age of 4.5) he would tell me how he saved people on the lifeboats, he would quote names such as Maxwell and Arthur (names that we don’t really have in any close family) Once we saw a dog and he told me it was like his he used to have when he worked on the lifeboat.

Now he’s older (9) , his ASD special interest is the Titanic! Shock

Some of these stories are freaking me out, I’m home alone Grin

Tiredtomybones · 25/10/2018 22:24

Love these stories!

Iused2BanOptimist · 25/10/2018 22:43

Laist The knitting nun reminds me of something similarly silly. I was on the tube, the doors shut and there was a cry from the platform. Some woman had been standing there with her umbrella sticking forward and it was shut in the tube doors. As the tube moved off she ran down the platform hanging on to her umbrella. She stopped at the end of the platform and there it was stuck in the doors. Some man grabbed it and pulled it in. I was crying with laughter and the woman sitting next to me was in fits too. Every time we stopped, we looked at each other and started again. Everyone else was po faced and acting as if it never happened which just made us laugh more.

easterholidays · 25/10/2018 22:43

This isn't the weirdest thing that's ever happened to me but it happened today and I was wondering who I could tell that would believe me, and here you all are Grin

You have to go back about six months to when I thought perhaps I recognised a new guy at work as someone I follow on Twitter (whom I'd never met). The chap on Twitter has his CV as part of his bio, so I went and checked and no, he's not working where I work, must just be someone who coincidentally happens to resemble this guy's Twitter profile picture.

But today they've put up the team's names next to their photos on the wall (we work on different teams; I've never spoken to him) and well, he doesn't just look like this guy, he also has the same name! So I go back and have another look at his CV and yes, he's now updated it and we do work together. Hmm, I think, I'll have to mention it to him next time I see him.

This evening I leave work and take a train about eight miles, which is two miles short of where I'm headed but I want to get my 10K steps for the day. As I'm walking down a quiet residential street nowhere near my office or my home, who should come along from the other direction but this chap! I'm now worried about mentioning any of it to him in case he thinks I'm a stalker!

(He can't be stalking me; he'd have had no way of knowing where I was going this evening Grin)

So not spooky or creepy, but a very unlikely coincidence.

Toptheginup · 25/10/2018 23:01

I remember once taking a photograph of a beautiful sunset from the window of my friend's flat, later on I was studying the picture and showing her the clouds and realised there was a gap in the clouds in the shape of a woman walking hand in hand with a child, it was quite lovely like they were going to heaven.
Got a few more 'woo' ones but could be outing, loving the stories though

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 25/10/2018 23:41

Ooh secret switch that's terrifying.
Are you sure it reAlly happened, though and isnt a false memory.

One night I was falling to sleep and seen in my dream like state an old lady and I physically shouted out "don't go" this woke my DH up who woke me we laughed it off and both went to sleep. (I didn't mention the old lady) That same night a couple of hours later my DH had his first and only sleep paralysis which woke me. Afterwards he described it as being paralysed could only move his left foot but here's the weird part he said there was an old lady at the foot of the bed that he felt was coming to take him away.

Weird!!

SecretWitch · 26/10/2018 01:24

Awwlookatmybabyspider, My sister and brother’s talk about it once in awhile. They are older. I was a 12 at the time. My mother has talked about very few times. It sort has become family lore at this time. It has served to make us careful about ourselves, our children and public loos.

rosydreams · 26/10/2018 01:26

I almost got run over by a bull

As i teen i took up work experience. It was working at a children nursery in a typical suburb. It was the end of a long day i waved goodbye to everyone, signed out and went out the locked door.

As i walked down the pavement ,i stopped looked back and forth. It was completely quiet. Before i could even articulate my thoughts on how weird it was.My attention was drawn to a police vehicle and a man screaming at me GET INSIDE. Before i could realise what the hell there in front of me a big bull and i just legged it.I had to jam several times on the buzzer to get inside.I was saying to the manager there was a bloody cow out there lol.

Next day i heard it had escaped out a abattoir guess it wasn't to pleased
