Tiny baby clothes are huge...

My little boy was born on Monday weighing 5lb3. He's beautiful, and we can't find any clothes to fit him. Even small and tiny baby clothes are too big at the moment (by quite a bit).

I'm finding it really hard to dress him in what we have.

Anyone any experience?
Sorry for posting in AIBU. Feeling super stressed after the birth and just want to be organised now..

Congratulations!!
I was very premature at birth and my mum dressed me in dolls clothes.

SoyDora · 25/10/2018 12:45

Asda has a premature baby range, do you have one nearby? My friend’s DD was born a few weeks ago at 4lbs and I’ve got her some bits from there.

DiaDiaB · 25/10/2018 12:46

Thanks @melin :)

We have an ASDA but they only do tiny baby, not premature baby clothes. Will check out Asda online though. I'm worried I'll buy things and they won't fit him.

Yes asda - you can order online if that helps. Congratulations!

UnalliterativeGeorge · 25/10/2018 12:48

Yanbu, DS was not much bigger at birth and everything swamped him!

Aprilislonggone · 25/10/2018 12:50

Ds was 4-12 and Asda prem stuff was amazing!

cadburyegg · 25/10/2018 12:54

Mothercare do premature clothing with free next day delivery! Congratulations on your bundle of joy x

cadburyegg · 25/10/2018 12:55

I also found Tesco newborn / tiny baby clothing to be good for small babies

Mammyofasuperbaby · 25/10/2018 12:57

Asdas premature stuff is amazing. My 2lb 14oz DC lived in them for the first 4 months of his life

CycleWoman · 25/10/2018 13:03

Congratulations on the arrival of your little boy!
M&S have a range of premature clothes from 4lbs. Probably best to order online as I’ve not seen them in store.

Boots does some nice bits - early baby size might be ok

Chrystal1982 · 25/10/2018 13:09

Congratulations!
M & S do a prem range, a quick google turned up amazon and earlybaby.co.uk and of course Asda. Having had 4 tiny babies (4lb10, 5lb, 5lb7, 5lb8) I’d go with the cheapest coz they grow out of the tiny size pretty quickly. I remember my mum having to run into town to get mothercare early baby clothes when DS1 (5lb7) was born in 2000, theres many more options now.

Tomatoesrock · 25/10/2018 13:10

My DD was 5lb 4oz. I had to roll the tiny babygro it really didn't last long a couple of weeks and he 'll catch up too. Congratulations Flowers

Oysterbabe · 25/10/2018 13:12

DD was 4lbs 13 and the tiny baby stuff was fine, a little big at first but wearable. It's up to 5lbs isn't it?

Houseonahill · 25/10/2018 13:18

Congratulations!! I sympathise my baby was 5lb3 too. I just ended up waiting for her to grow ha.

CheesyMother · 25/10/2018 13:24

The early baby range from John Lewis should be a good fit.

minivampsmakebloodwork · 25/10/2018 13:30

We used premature and tiny baby from Mothercare for our twins (4lb 4 and 5lb5). Dts was in early baby to newborn depending on manufacturer by the time we went home (aged 13 days) but dtd was still in tiny baby.

They vary greatly depending on where you buy and tbh Tesco were awful with very short legs on small stuff but huge great long ones on bigger ones.

I'd stil with just rolling the sleeves over.

Sashkin · 25/10/2018 13:32

M&S, John Lewis and Mothercare. DS was 6lb and fit tiny baby perfectly, so their early baby ranges should be about right for you.

But they grow so quickly that you could just wait for him to grow into tiny baby size? I thought DS looked quite sweet in his oversized newborn vests. He fit them within two weeks, and was out of them and into 0-3 by six weeks. They grow like crazy in those first couple of months.

Wadewilson · 25/10/2018 13:34

Tesco seems to run smaller than asda, but their tiny baby will still probably be a bit big. I think they do a prem range, but not 100% sure. I know Mothercare do a prem range, but it is more expensive than supermarkets

BentNeckLady · 25/10/2018 13:39

He’ll grown it to them :)

toomuchtooold · 25/10/2018 13:58

Was he at all early? If so I'd recommend getting sleeveless bodysuits for under the babygros - my DTs were 36+5 and they hated being dressed and undressed, and the sleeveless ones are easier to get their wee arms into.

Mothercare used to do fantastic ones that looked like wee old man vests but they don't seem to stock them now sadly.

Vampiratequeen · 25/10/2018 14:08

We had a similar problem when we had DD, we were told she was going to be big so bought all 0-3 clothing and they swamped her, we had to rush out and buy more the day I was released from hospital. Have a look online, there are stores that sell premature clothing, they do grow quickly though, so I wouldn't buy loads, my DD ended up not wearing half of hers as she outgrew them too quickly.

ihearttc · 25/10/2018 15:33

DS2 was premature and weighed 3lb 8oz. He came out of hospital weighing just over 4lb and all the Next tiny baby stuff fitted perfectly so maybe try there.

amyloo394 · 30/07/2019 23:34

you could try www.cribbsandco.co.uk they go all the way down to 1-2lbs. Reasonable prices and free delivery.

Yellowpolkadot · 30/07/2019 23:52

Next tiny baby and Tesco tiny baby were the saviour for our DD to come home (weighing around 4lb) before that we had been using the mothercare preemie range ❤️

Hope all is well with you and baby and congratulations!! (Just don’t try to find cute outfits as that is a whole other ball game!)
