To ask if 5 is too young?

Is 5 too young to watch ET? My DD is not overly anxious when watching films but ET can be a very emotional viewing. Just wondering how old you think is old enough for this one. I know I watched it at around the same age, if not younger.

You are best guide.

I watched it with my 4 & 7 year olds a few weeks ago. They were a bit bored by it tbh.

Elliot shouts ''penis breath'' at his brother and gets drunk at school via e.t.

Not things that bothered my kids but I was oddly uncomfortable explaining drunkenness to them Confused

I would say never. That creepy little alien thing is still my most feared thing. I LOATHE it and used to scream/cry when the bt phone home adverts were on. Utterly terrifying. (Yes I have trauma connected to that evil film) don’t make your kids watch it ever!

Why are PP saying they "sobbed the whole way through"

It isn't sad from start to finish

Completely agree. And it doesn't explain why my niece (8) burst into tears as soon as the opening credits started. But she did.

I was terrified of ET as a child. I haven't even attempted to watch it as an adult - so in my brain 33 is too young!
