They will certainly affect mine.

I'm really sorry @borntobequiet . It's ghastly.

joangray38 · 23/10/2018 19:50

Will most likely destroy mine as they are for life threatening and long term illnesses and cannot just be stopped or replaced by something else but I guess the Brexitiers (Raab etc aren't known to be sympathetic towards the disabled or long term ill) etc are thrilled - survival of the fittest and all that plus less demand for the failing NHS so it's a win win for them.

Namelesswonder · 23/10/2018 19:59

DD takes 4 different medicines each day, 2 of them are strong painkillers which can’t be stopped suddenly but must be reduced v v slowly. 3 are manufactured abroad. If medicine supplies are disrupted it will be a nightmare for us.

Marriedwithchildren5 · 23/10/2018 20:01

Nhs is failing because of the rise in population. The elderly are living longer and babies are surviving more.

We are still a part of Europe. We can still trade. The trade is 2.9% I think.

There has been plenty of time to prepare for this. Unfortuantly no one is stepping forward to put people's minds at rest. Please don't think that anyone who voted Brexit expected any of this to be such a cock up!

MundungusFletcher · 23/10/2018 20:03

I’m on seven different types of meds daily. This could have a major impact upon my health.

borntobequiet · 23/10/2018 20:05

I voted to Remain precisely because it was entirely predictable that in the event of a no deal this would happen. Among many other bad things.

I've been encouraging people on here to get a buffer of supplies of food and first aid in so that they don't clog up the nhs with avoidable bollocks and keep it clear for people who actually need it for unavoidable reasons.
I have MS. I'm generally ok with self management at the moment.

Bluelonerose · 23/10/2018 20:08

I'm scared to I've got dh on a cocktails of drugs that can't just be stopped he has to be weaned of (if they ever can be stopped)
I've also got asthmatic dc so I've made sure I've picked up an extra inhaler.
Then there's my pills too.
I see this £350mil we were getting for the nhs hasn't been dropped off by the unicorn shitting glitter yet Hmm

tierraJ · 23/10/2018 20:24

I take anti psychotics not sure what will happen to me if they aren't available I will get paranoid again that they (people in charge) want us dead... but then maybe they do??!!

Aviana · 23/10/2018 20:28

Please don't think that anyone who voted Brexit expected any of this to be such a cock up!

And that is why you should always vote against an idea unless there is a (coherent) plan to go with it. It’s quite shocking how many people fail to grasp this.

JacquesHammer · 23/10/2018 20:31

I’m slightly concerned for me as take meds daily but I could survive.

DD has asthma and - as selfish as it is - I have already got her a couple of extra inhalers in.

missyB1 · 23/10/2018 20:31

But how do we stockpile? My GP only prescribes me a set amount each time of my breast cancer drug. I can’t hoard them as I need to take them!

borntobequiet · 23/10/2018 20:32

tierra I’m very sorry if I upset you. Go to your doctor and see if you can get some reassurance, perhaps ask for extra supplies. x

I am worried about my DM's cocktail of medications, and now following a cancer diagnosis, any possible radiotherapy. From the bit of research I've done, the radioactive isotopes used are not made in this country and only have a half life of around 24 hours - if they're stuck in a lorry somewhere, their usefulness rapidly declines. I wanted to raise this personally with my MP, only to find that he doesn't do surgeries!

PhilomenaDeathsHeadHawkMoth · 23/10/2018 20:38

DS1's kept alive by the various medicines he takes. This is very worrying to me.

Schuyler · 23/10/2018 20:42

I am concerned. I cannot stockpile medication, how could I? GP and hospital only issue what I need.

SergeantPfeffer · 23/10/2018 20:43

Even if we get a deal, there is going to be a whole lot of time and money wasted on contingency planning in pharma for this. This has a pretty big impact on clinical trials too.
If you voted leave this is EXACTLY what you voted for, how you could think that disentangling ourselves from 30+ years of regs wouldn’t be a bureaucratic nightmare is beyond me. It’s basic common sense.

PipeTheFuckDown · 23/10/2018 20:45

My medication keeps me alive. If it affects mine, my kids will be motherless within 2-6 months.

Mulberry72 · 23/10/2018 20:45

I’m very frightened about what will happen. I have two life long, chronic illnesses and am currently taking 14 different medications per day, and using 6 topical treatments as well.

I’m currently waiting on the outcome of an IFR for further medication (due to many other failed medications over the past 12 years) but it’s had to go to an independent panel for them to review and decide upon. I think they’ll refuse this time as the medication is stupidly expensive, and then I don’t know what I’ll do. It’s so worrying! Sad

tierraJ · 23/10/2018 20:46

Hi OP no you didn't upset me, I've already been worrying about this.
I asked my psychiatrist for extra meds but he told me not to be silly.
I think he was trying to reassure me but he didn't. x

Marriedwithchildren5 · 23/10/2018 20:46

And that is why you should always vote against an idea unless there is a (coherent) plan to go with it. It’s quite shocking how many people fail to grasp this.

This vote was on a mandate that David Cameron was voted in on. Should we have prepared for the Tory party being in charge? Should people have not voted? I won't derail the thread, however, your argument could be traced back years.

SergeantPfeffer · 23/10/2018 20:48

Should add that hospitals are actively looking into this at the moment, as far as I’m aware.
Another issue is expiry dates. For medicines with short expiry or that are made in small batches, there’s a limit to what you can stock pile. Also very true of radio-isotopes which degrade quickly.
Think how much money will be spent in the NHS on planning for this. Such a waste, a senseless waste.

AutumnalFeelings · 23/10/2018 20:49

How do you find out which country your medication is manufactured in? I take a CD daily so no way of stockpiling. It's not life threatening, thank goodness, but I'd really struggle without it.

VillanellesBrownWig · 23/10/2018 20:50

I'm insulin dependent, no insulin means death for me and fellow type 1 diabetics.

rosie39forever · 23/10/2018 20:50

My dh has an autoimmune disease for which he self injects two drugs which are manufactured in the EU, without these he will rapidly go from a professional hard working tax payer to being wheelchair bound with extreme pain, so a big thanks to everyone who voted for this shit show👍
