DD (9) doesn't have a list nor know what she wants!

I was thinking of a wireless speaker for her phone, some crafty bits, bath bombs etc.

I have a baby boy also and he will have a token couple of things like maybe a keepsake moneybox or something?

What are you getting your DCs?

I actually don’t know. DS1 is 4, and when asked what he’d like for Christmas says ‘presents’. We might get him a sciencey kit as he did a volcano experiment recently which he loved. I also think he’d quite like a globe as he’s obsessed with space and maps. And DH thinks he’d like a toy aeroplane but we’re struggling to find a decent sized one with opening doors and things that isn’t a military type one. So I’m a bit stuck for anything hugely exciting 😕.

On the other hand for DS2 who will be 18 months I have loads of ideas. I think he would love a toy kitchen, a toy shopping trolley, a toy hoover/ broom/ cleaning set, some sort of little ride-on thing, a little mini table and chairs, toot-toot bits, a toy farm etc etc etc... He obviously will not get all the above so am trying to whittle it down with reference to budget and space constraints! But also worry that getting him something physically ‘big’ will upset DS1 if he doesn’t also have a large item - suspect size matters when it comes to gifts when you’re 4.

Stickerrocks · 23/10/2018 21:41

I really wouldn't worry about your DD not having a list yet. Speaking from experience, most things on a list prepared over 2 months before Christmas are unlikely to still be on the list in December. I've volunteered in Santa's grotto for the last few years and always ask the boys & girls if they know what they want to ask Santa for. The only answers guaranteed not to send a look of panic across any parent's face are "toys" and "sweets" on Christmas eve. My favourite was an 8 year old who was adamant that Santa was bringing her a purple mug.

Notso · 23/10/2018 21:42

DD 18, possibly a Mac book. If we get this then she'll get pj's, socks, chocs and baileys as fillers.

DS 14, mini SNES, electric guitar, a couple of books and some camping stuff he needs replacing before DofE awards.

DS 8 and DS 6, don't know. They want a Nintendo switch but I'm not sure, they also want drift trikes but again not sure.

CoodleMoodle · 23/10/2018 21:43

4.5yo DD:

  • Playmobil
  • Lego
  • Singing Anna & Elsa toddlers (from eBay)
  • Bucket of dinosaurs
  • Couple of board games
  • New pens and special colouring books (she's very into colouring atm)
  • Books

4 month old DS:

  • Some of DD's old toys and books wrapped up (mostly for her benefit)
  • Couple of little toys that rattle etc
  • Maybe some clothes

Everything has been bought in sales, or slowly over the last year.

CatLadyToddlerMother · 23/10/2018 21:47

DD aged 3 has asked for 3 things:

A cry baby doll
The play doh Ice cream maker
And a dolls bed

She’s getting loads of other bits including new bed sheets though.

RitaMills · 23/10/2018 21:50

DS (9) Got him all the Harry Potter lego when Smyths were doing their £10 off every £50 spent deal. I got him a few board games then as well. I’ll also get him either a new Xbox or a (second hand) iPhone. He likes ‘facts’ books like Ripley’s and Guinness world records so things like that and the usual socks, PJs etc.

mama1DC · 24/10/2018 08:39

DD2

Happy Land Windmill farm
-Luva Bella Doll
-happy land family
-happy land pets
-Happy land Christmas
-happy land fantasy carriage
-Doll Highchair
-Doll clothes
-Mega blox
-scooter
-Peppa plane

Sounds a lot but half of it is mini happy land figures

dobbythedoggy · 24/10/2018 09:22

Ds 2, almost 3, wooden fork lift truck, wooden construction figures and wooden pebbles so he will stop stealing Granny's. We also have a pool table put away for him, but will access of Christmas day if he can cope with more stuff and may keep it for his birthday.

Dd almost 6 has asked for a camera and a particular railway station. Won't be buying until closer to the time as she will most likely change her mind lots of times. Have a fairy garden/rubber band game put away for her and will be getting her some washable nail polish and pens and colouring.

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 24/10/2018 09:24

DS2 is mad about Harry Potter and Lego at the moment so we've just bought the Hogwarts Castle and Whomping Willow Lego sets (25% off if you buy together from the Asda).

DS1 has recently had a birthday, has over £500 of money from friends and family still left from his birthday and can't think of a single thing he'd like. No idea at all what to buy him.

Mesmeri · 24/10/2018 09:32

Snap Circuits for the 6 year old. Marble run for the 4 year old. Not sure about the 2 year old yet. Plus whatever the grandparents choose to send. And that's it. They all have winter birthdays so we keep Christmas simple.

Celestia26 · 24/10/2018 09:36

My two are both adamant they want a dog (not going to happen!). So in that vein my youngest is getting one of those battery powered little dogs that walks and yaps, and the oldest is getting a robotic dog that listens to commands.

Apart from that they've got a few books and sweets. We don't do a huge amount of gifts, mainly because we don't have much money, and also because I think huge piles of gifts lead to a bit of ungratefulness and losing sight of the value of things.

HellenaHandbasket · 24/10/2018 09:46

DD,8: one of those disembodied heads for doing hairstyles
Lego
New gym gear
Fymo
Ambrosius doll figure

Ds6: Cricket top
Meccano coding thing
Handheld microscope and book
Fymo
Dinosaur fingerling...maybe

Ds1: some rainbow peepul
Little jigsaw

Seniorschoolmum · 24/10/2018 09:49

I’m stuck for ideas. Ds had a ds3 for his birthday and now says he wants a Nintendo Switch which is overkill and too expensive for me.

So what else? He isn’t into clothes yet and already has a bike.

Possibly a Ds3 game, books, a chess set, .....?

OutPinked · 24/10/2018 09:56

6, 7 and 8 year old all want a new bike and helmet so that’s their main gift this year. 8 year old wants a couple of Xbox games, Pokemon cards, Pokemon soft toys, Legend of zelda mug and the rest from us will be the usual pyjamas, slippers, chocolate, lush bath bomb etc.
DD’s want slime Confused, LOL dolls, TY toys and bunchems.

The baby will be less than two months old so he’s just getting a few token gifts like a first Christmas bear, bouncer chair which is obviously more practical for us than anything, first Christmas bauble and a couple of toys for when he’s slightly older.

ToffeePennie · 24/10/2018 10:00

Off Santa -

1 year old - a singing baby shark
4 year old - a scooter
Off us -
1 year old - some bubble bath, plastic bath toys, a fishing net and some foam letters
4 year old - the 13th doctors sonic screwdriver
Then my family have been asked to buy a ball for 1 year old, the 12th doctors sonic for 4 year old and my inlaws have been asked to get the 10th doctors sonic and some storybooks.
There is literally nothing else they want or need. So sonic screwdrivers, balls and bath stuff is the order of the day here

Curious2468 · 24/10/2018 10:17

11 year old:
Lego, Lego and more Lego (potter sets and Lego elves)
Posh drawing pens

8 year old:
Minecraft bedroom accessories
A working antweight robot (autistic special interest).

My lists feel small looking at others but last year I attempted buying my daughter things that weren’t what she asked for (instax camera) and gave up and sold it half way through the year to replace with more Lego 😂

mama1DC · 24/10/2018 15:01

@Celestia26 I used to get huge piles of presents for birthday and Christmas and I always appreciated it and still now am really great full for everything I got!! But I don't do it for my DD, I can't be doing with that much stuff in my house 😂
