Selling tickets

Sorry, didn't know where to put this.
Father passed away recently. He had lots of tickets to concerts, shows etc. Most will either just leave, maybe go ourselves or give away.

However he had one pair of tickets to a sold out show in Nov which are going on resale sites for £400 each. Not something I or people I know are desperate to see and it is a weekday matinee so not that easy for my age group.

Would it be ok to sell them? I don't see the point of letting such highly demanded seats go empty! Might give money to charity. Or just add to "estate".

Yes, it would be perfectly ok to sell them.

florafawna · 23/10/2018 13:50

Absolutely sell the tickets Flowers

lola006 · 23/10/2018 13:54

Yes, but be careful that they can be re-sold. Some venues and artists are clamping down on re-sale so the name on the ticket needs to match ID. Depending on what it is, might be worth checking with the venue (but don’t give them any actual info - name, Seat no etc - in case they cancel them).

peopleispeople · 23/10/2018 14:24

Firstly, I am very sorry for your loss Flowers

Okay to sell on a personal level, but check with the venue that they are re-sellable. Venue themselves would probably issue a refund under the circumstances.

However I personally disagree with selling tickets to make additional profit... that is what feeds the touts, hikes up prices and causes massive disappointment with fans when tickets sell out fast.

There is a prominent resell site that artists are now partnering with to resell excess tickets at face value or less. I'm not sure the rules about naming things like this to list it though?

Returnofthesmileybar · 23/10/2018 14:30

Absolutely sell them but do it at face value

AlexanderHamilton · 23/10/2018 14:31

I used to work for a ticket seller. In those circumstamces we would have refunded the estate.

What show is it? Some shows are taking a leaf from concerts and not allowing re-sales - Hamilton is one such case.

BreconBeBuggered · 23/10/2018 14:41

I'm sorry about your father, OP.
Twickets is the face value resale site if the original ticket seller won't refund. I understand that Hamilton show is tricky but I'm not sure why or what it is - anyway, there shouldn't be a problem re-selling decent tickets if there's demand for them.

irregularegular · 23/10/2018 17:55

Not Hamilton.

Maybe I will contact the theatre then. Tickets said non-refundable etc but maybe not in these circumstances. Don't want to do anything dubious!

Face value is over 100 each do still quite a lot.

Or I may not get round to it given the number of other things to do. But it does seem a waste.

Thank you.

Technically you shouldn’t because they form part of his estate but nobody is going to check.

irregularegular · 23/10/2018 18:22

But I think I can start disposing of "chattels" before probate is granted. I I Would check with other beneficiaries and keep any money raised in separate account.

Maybe, I’m not an expert but thought everything had to be kept until probate.
