To report this number for harassment?

I get called every few days, same voice, same blurb, slightly different number sometimes

"Calling from xxxxxx I've been informed you've been in the accident where you were innocent, is that right?"

And every time I say "no, delete my number, don't call me again"

Today I said I tell you every time and it's always your voice I will report you for harassment

Tbh I can't really be bothered to waste police time on this so might just start having some fun back now. Ideas for the next time?

I never answer them or just put phone down. Someone told me if you answer they ring back again but if you don't they try a couple more times then not again

Tattletale · 23/10/2018 12:00

Can you block the number? I recently had this problem on my landline. I bought a phone that can block unwanted numbers and it works great.

Confusedbeetle · 23/10/2018 12:00

Lay the phone down on the table and leave the call open. That way they can't call anyone else. Most mobile providers let you block a number. On a landline, use call identifier and don't answer

OR say Yes how did you know and regale a massive story not giving them time to interrupt. Then say I am so sorry you have to do such a shitty job, are you paid peanuts?

CandyCreeper · 23/10/2018 12:03

it isnt a police matter.

Hidingtonothing · 23/10/2018 12:08

DH always quizzes them for details of the ‘accident’ which they never have answers for and they usually end up hanging up on him, they never call back either Grin

MarilynsDressOnAVent · 23/10/2018 12:16

Drag the call out. Lay it on real thick and make them think they have a really juicy case worth a shitload of cash in fees. Waste their time and piss them off as much as they're pissing you off.

It isn't a police matter however. Report the number to TPS.

florafawna · 23/10/2018 12:25

Call Guardian stops this.

DeathyMcDeathStarFace · 23/10/2018 12:28

Yes, I was involved in an accident a few months ago. It resulted in my death, how can you help me?

Then see how long it takes them to twig on.

If they don't realise you can tell them that as you are now dead they will have to deal with the executor of the estate. Give them a fake name and completely non existent phone number.

NerrSnerr · 23/10/2018 12:28

Just ignore/ cancel the calls. If on the very off chance it's someone with a genuine call they'll leave a message.

Arkengarthdale · 23/10/2018 13:12

Some of these calls are recordings. It's not an actual person on the line. If you say nothing at all they don't say 'hello? Hello? Can you hear me?' like an actual person would. I think they record your answers so an actual person could collate the info and call you if it's deemed worthwhile that a claim could be made which would net the company some dosh.

selfidentifyinggiraffe · 23/10/2018 13:14

She burst out laughing... she's no recording

And no it's not a police matter it's just bloody annoying

i just block the calls

selfidentifyinggiraffe · 23/10/2018 13:17

Landlines you can't block or know they're calling beforehand

OP posts:
LittleBookofCalm · 23/10/2018 13:17

keep them hanging on first.
otoh it is someone's job, that must be what working in a call centre is all about?

Faster · 23/10/2018 13:17

Telephone preference service. Put your details in and the majority of unwanted calls stop.
