I am looking for recommendations for a travelodge or Premier Inn in Central London. I am travelling with kids, what is good but also handy for tube etc? 😀

Any thoughts on Euston?

There's a premier Inn at Putney Bridge, whilst not central London it is right outside a tube station & has 3 or 4 buses straight into town

ManicGirl · 21/10/2018 22:48

Haven't stayed in the Euston one but booked a family room in St Pancras one this summer and it was great. Had 2 DCs in room with us and not too squashed. It's a 5 minute walk from euston.

SparkwoodAnd21 · 21/10/2018 22:55

Hampstead one is good, I’ve stayed there with DS a few times. Like PP said, it’s just over the road from Belsize Park station so easy from Euston.

generalexpert · 21/10/2018 22:57

There are a couple of travelodges in Bromley. Single train (20min) into Victoria. Cheaper than. Staring in the centre.

Mascarponeandwine · 21/10/2018 22:58

I’ve stayed in most of the premier inns. Euston is fine, one of the older inns but ok. Ask for an inside window otherwise the traffic noise can be an issue. Always good to stay in a hotel that you can walk to from the mainline station. What sort of things are you thinking of doing, as that would influence location?

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 21/10/2018 22:58

Premier inn county hall is in an excellent position, but definitely not the best.

Tower bridge is better value as is Earl’s Court

selly24 · 21/10/2018 23:03

Premier Inns are not that cheap!
Better would be a hotel from the Imperial Hotel Group
Eg President, Bedford, Tavistock all excellent value and good Russel Sq location so brilliant for a Euston arrival and close to Coram’s Fields playground for your daughter! Loads of restaurants and easy connections to the rest of the city

MrsStrowman · 21/10/2018 23:04

Consider point A hotels, really clean and modern and often really well priced for London and nicer than travel lodges

shins · 21/10/2018 23:05

I stayed in the YHA hostel in Earls Court with my kids earlier this year, lovely triple room with bathroom for about £70. It was a great place for kids, very safe and comfortable.

Ontheboardwalk · 21/10/2018 23:05

I’ve been to premier Euston a couple of times. Great hotel top location. I’d def recommend

Poisongirl81 · 22/10/2018 08:34

Thanks for the tips. I am going on my own with dd. I am a bit worried about wondering round places in the dark... Is any location more safe? 😀

London is a very safe city. Main crimes are
: pickpocketting, money in inside pockets
: bag theft, don't drape bag over back of chair, leave on floor, a cross body bag is good.
: phone theft, don't walk along absorbed in phone not paying attention.

The tubes can get a bit drunken after 10pm but not worse than the centre of a small town at the weekend.

Just take your time and look around you, it's great in December with the lights. Walk Oxford St to Regent St, Picadilly Circus to Trafalgar Square. Lovely.

thegreylady · 22/10/2018 08:46

Look at Booking.com for the Pullman at Euston. Dh and I got a fantastic deal. It is 5 minutes walk from Euston and very very pleasant.

TwoGinScentedTears · 22/10/2018 08:49

Premier kings cross is the best premier inn according to my PIL who stay in London a lot.

twilightcafe · 22/10/2018 09:20

DD and I are staying at the Citizen M Bankside at the moment. Massive superking sized bed if you don't mind sharing. A bus to South Bank and Covent Garden stops outside. Or you can walk to Borough Market or South Bank from here.

JennyHolzersGhost · 22/10/2018 16:07

Give us some idea at least of what you want to see and do please !

Poisongirl81 · 22/10/2018 16:53

The usual really... Any opinion between Tower Hill and Tower Bridge?

OP posts:
spongebunnyfatpants · 22/10/2018 17:54

Tower bridge travel lodge is lovely and central.

HeronLanyon · 22/10/2018 17:57

Red lion street. Just off Holborn. Quiet. 10 min walk to Covent Garden. 3 min walk to Holborn tube. Never stayed there or any TL/PI so this isn’t a personal recommendation but know area well and recommended it before on mn. We should all be on commission!

HeronLanyon · 22/10/2018 17:58

Sorry op missed your geographical post there. Red lion street no good for Tower Hill area c

AlexanderHamilton · 22/10/2018 18:33

I stayed there twice Heron. Definately my least favourite premier inn though great for Covent Garden.

HeronLanyon · 22/10/2018 18:39

AlexanderHamton - interesting. I will cease to recommend then.

Ontheboardwalk · 22/10/2018 18:42

Avoid tower bridge it’s the other side of the river and takes ages to get back over the bridge due to the traffic and people getting in your way

I’ve been to premier inn Tower Hill many a time and never had a bad experience. Not in the centre but just a 5 min walk to Tower of London and tubes

Poisongirl81 · 22/10/2018 18:44

Thank you all I have now booked Covent Garden
