To ask about conveyancing fees

Not including stamp duty what did you pay for selling and buying at the same time? I'm a little worried my quote is too high. Its nearly 2k for all the legalities... Then 2k stamp duty on top.

What sort of place are you buying?

Fees are often based on the property price. You'll be charged more for a leasehold (flat), newbuild or anything beyond a "standard" house.

£2k for buying and selling sounds about right for houses though. Get a few quotes.

Poisongirl81 · 20/10/2018 16:44

It will be a freehold house if that helps

That does sound about right. But obviously if you're unsure, get a few quotes.

Sounds about right. You’ll pay your estate agent more for considerably less work/skill!

Poisongirl81 · 20/10/2018 16:53

The agent is quite cheap actually

£2k for both sides on the transaction sounds fair.

Smallinthesmoke · 20/10/2018 16:55

That's cheap sounding by my small experience, for 2 properties.

Poisongirl81 · 20/10/2018 17:22

Added up again it's £1700 so that's good I guess. Thanks all

£1350 plus searches so 1700

Nickinoo30 · 20/10/2018 17:26

Do you mean solicitors cost and disbursements? Searches are around £250 and land reg fee is dependant on price - £135 ish? So say £550 ish plus vat for each transaction which is about average.

Poisongirl81 · 20/10/2018 17:32

I mean everything except stamp duty...

Poisongirl81 · 20/10/2018 17:34

Is it an expensive house? That drives the fees up. You’ll be better off getting quotes direct from solicitors rather than getting one online f you want their best price

user1471426142 · 20/10/2018 17:56

That’s pretty good. I’ve had a quote for £1.3k for selling a property. Some of it seems to depend on sales value.

Poisongirl81 · 20/10/2018 18:00

It's via a solicitor / conveyancing service. One I'm selling a out 180 buying about 250
