To really want to lose 2 and a half stone before Christmas

Honestly, is this realistic?

I really am fed up of being big. I’ve lost all of my confidence and I hate how I look. At work, we have photos attached to our emails and so I can’t hide - my big fat face coming up every time someone emails me (which is a LOT!)

Please tell me it’s possible?

I third the blood sugar diet. Just started it again this weekend as I have a holiday coming up next month and want to lose half a stone or so. The weight does drop off and it’s really nice, tasty food.

Ghanagirl · 21/10/2018 02:45

@SilverLining10 there’s always one...

Crash diets like this put your organs under pressure. Particularly your gall bladder. You could end up with severe gallstones and needing an operation.

I've lost 20lbs in 15 weeks with The Fitness Guy programme - it's not a fad diet, nothing extreme and you're never hungry. Others have lost more so you could definitely achieve nearer the 2 stone mark if you really stuck in. They do an online programme as there's no more group courses this year

Op, I suggest looking into fasting. Read ‘The Complete Guide to Fasting’ by Dr Jason Fung to get you started. There are a lot of facebook groups with plenty of support for this too. Good luck! Smile

Another fan of fasting!
I did the 5:2 and lost 5st - kept it off over a year (with no fasting) got pregnant, had my DS who’s now 10mths and I weigh 3lbs less than pre-pregnancy now. Going to start fasting again as get married in 6wks and would like another stone off.

MaryShelley1818 · 21/10/2018 08:42

It also means you don’t have to ever ‘diet’ and can easily work around any planned treats/meals out/special occasions etc

AlphaBravo · 21/10/2018 08:44

Do Exante OP. Works brilliantly.

AlphaBravo · 21/10/2018 08:44

I do it with fasting windows and have dropped 3/4 of a stone in 3 weeks.

Ilovecookiedough · 21/10/2018 08:54

Why not make some lifestyle changes and do a sensible healthy diet? Even if you managed to lose 2 stone by Christmas, doing a fad diet is only going to mess up your motabolism when you undoubtedly don't stick to it over Xmas and you'll pile everything back on and more. Sorry to be negative, focus on making healthy long term changes rather than I NEED to be thin by Christmas.

Thelastredwinegum · 21/10/2018 08:55

I haven't read all replies yet so I apologise if this has been mentioned, in my experience when I've lost weight quickly it's a struggle to keep the weight off, so long term I'd be looking to lose it slowly and steadily.

Do you exercise at all? (again sorry if already brought up) it doesn't have to be anything excessive a brisk walk 3x a week - you could download something like mapmywalk, Strava etc... to keep track of it and see how you improve.
One of my good friends did couch to 5km and she's lost a good amount of weight, her body shape has changed to and she looks amazing (she looked lovely before).
Could you go to a park rub o not a Saturday morning? You don't have to run it but it's a good way to exercise and I find it easier to get up and do something if I'm not doing it on my own.

Good luck.

Royalbluepink · 21/10/2018 11:16

Thanks Smile

I definitely can’t run ... I just don’t think it’s possible for me, I’ve never been able to run even in my slimmer days. I do have a Fitbit and walk over 10000 steps a day which is good - it does make me be that bit more active.

What do you mean, you can't run?! Everyone can run! C25K is a brilliant programme because you start off only running for a minute. Surely you could manage that?

Thelastredwinegum · 21/10/2018 14:55

Honestly you can run, your body is designed for it.
I did C25K and on week 2, I could've cried, had no idea of how I was going to run non-stop for 30 mins. Now less than a year on I've signed up for a 10km.
If you're on Facebook search for a group called "girls that Jeff -gtj".

You can do it ☺️

Royalbluepink · 21/10/2018 15:27

I’ve tried C25k about seven times now; I can’t manage to get off the second stage. I just can’t do it Halloween Blush
