We queued all day then had to queue for an hour to leave the car park

Is it fireworks today? I went once never ever again!

Tobebythesea · 19/10/2018 22:05

Frightnight?

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 19/10/2018 22:06

Try living here. Legoland traffic is a legitimate excuse for being late around here Grin

Girlicorne · 19/10/2018 22:09

Bloody awful place. We went a couple of years ago in September, not in school holidays, so we thought it would be quiet with the kids all having just gone back to school and parents having had enough after a summer of entertaining. It was raining on the Saturday so was not too bad but the Sunday we must have got on 4 rides. Plus the extortionately priced food and drinks, I m sure we paid £40 for some horrible burgers (staying over so only had a picnic the first day), the queue to get out of the place and you have to pay for the car parking on top of the extortionate entry fee!!!!! Never ever again, and I love theme parks as a rule! Whenever anyone asks me for tips on Legoland I advise them to try Paulton's or Chessington instead!

AnneLovesGilbert · 19/10/2018 22:12

YABU. I hate Lego and thought legoland was fun, easy to navigate, friendly, good value and a bit magical.

Thought it would be a one off but the DC loved it so much were heading back next year.

HairyArmpits · 19/10/2018 22:13

YANBU at all

Boyskeepswinging · 19/10/2018 22:13

I genuinely don't understand why people are still going to Legoland. Have there not been about a gazillion threads where literally every poster says what a complete rip-off Legoland is?

Resurgam2016 · 19/10/2018 22:14

There was nothing vaguely halloweeny about the place apart from some little Lego ghosts. No fireworks. A lot of the rides were just under staffed but the place was rammed.

I could honestly deal with it if it weren't for the musak - if I worked there it would make me suicidal.

We went in August. The kids loved it. We had an accessibility pass as my son has autism and the ability to queue virtually was a life saviour. Don't think we would have been able to go without it.

Traffic was a nightmare and food was more expensive than I was expecting. I would definitely go again though.

Is it any different in other countries as we were thinking of booking a break to the Danish park.

klondike555 · 20/10/2018 07:01

We went to the one in San Diego about 9 years ago. Worse theme park experience ever. If they'd been any slower in loading the rides, we'd have gone back in time. My Lego-mad children were so disappointed, especially as it was supposed to be one of the highlights of our six week US trip. I was such a relief to get back to Disneyland where they do things properly.

When I complained to one of the staff he was sympathetic, but said maybe I should visit the one in Windsor as he'd heard that one was good! Fine, I'll just pop over to the other side of the world then and there shall I??

ReginaPhalange2 · 20/10/2018 07:03

Yanbu so many of my friends are surprised when I skate it as it’s on their to do list but I hated every minute of the place.

WillChellam · 20/10/2018 07:12

Is this the Windsor one?

I went a few years ago with my wife and two of the children - we were very, very lucky from what I hear - got to go on 5 rides without forking out £150+ for the rapid access dongles - I've seen reports of people only getting to do 1 or 2 rides on the entire day.

Despite the 5 rides, yes, overpriced, the refillable cups are a complete con - nowhere seemed to do juice, only fizzy drinks which our lot dont drink, totally rammed everywhere.

Bestseller · 20/10/2018 07:14

I haven't been for a while but we went (in full waterproofs) on a very cold rainy day and had a great time with practically the whole place to ourselves.

I don't do theme parks in nice weather, there's nothing that lasts a few minutes that I'm prepared to queue and hour or more for.

PenguinSaidEverything · 20/10/2018 07:16

We had a great time at Legoland Grin We did it over two days and by the second day we had figured out which rides to get to first. Food was expensive though.

Minimamame · 20/10/2018 07:17

We went to LEGOLAND in Germany and loved it! I'm not in the UK though so it was cheaper for us to go there rather than Windsor. A bit of queuing alright but no worse than any other theme park.

Squeakybubbles26 · 20/10/2018 07:24

We went this year and our daughter loved it! She was under 2 so couldn't go on many rides, but it was nice to see the Lego figures and have a day out as a family. We booked using the sun tokens and took a picnic with us - so a cheap day out! We will most defiantly return and continue to use the sun tokens and take our own food!

Exasperatedcroc · 20/10/2018 07:29

We also did the one in Germany and loved it. It was at Easter though and freezing. We got an annual pass as it worked out cheapest and as we were staying for a week nearby we just popped in for a few hours each day. Very few queues except for the very newest rides and the I can't remember the food prices being extortionate.

BikeRunSki · 20/10/2018 07:32

Google “Mumsnet Survival Guide”. We went in August 3 years ago and lived it, but the survival guide really helped!

noitsachicken · 20/10/2018 07:38

We went on an in service day in sept, so weather ok and relatively quiet, queues for 20-30mins Max, most rides were 10min or less.
Took our own food, used the Sunday times offer which was two tickets for £12 I think. Children loved it.
It’s like any attraction, busy during holidays and weekends!

BarbarianMum · 20/10/2018 07:39

We went to Legoland Germany last year. Kids and dh loved it. We stayed over in self-catering accomodation so didnt buy food and avoided the whole queue to get in/out thing, the park was very well maintained and clean. It was busy but if you stay on site you could get in an hour early and the last hour was v quiet too as people have started to leave - we did the most popular rides in those hours.

Its not really my thing but doing it that way worked really well. I wouldnt go all the way to Germany for it, but if you happen to be in Bavaria I'd recommend it.

LillianGish · 20/10/2018 07:39

The only way to enjoy it is to go outside British school holidays which we were able to do as my dcs are at school in France. Followed MN advice to arrive early and be first through the doors and had a surprisingly enjoyable day (having fully expected the seventh circle of hell). One look at the queue barriers (no queues as such when we visited just after the Easter holidays) gave an indication as to what it is usually like. Had a great day, will never go back.

newmumwithquestions · 20/10/2018 07:41

Nooooo. We’re going on Wednesday! Went once before and it was good - got on loads and loads of rides. Peppa Pig world on the other hand was living hell.

Screamingeels · 20/10/2018 07:43

I love Legoland. But consider myself a legoland Ninja. I've only gone on inset days, when local counties don't have inset and we"ve never queued more than 10 mins, often its walk on and on dragon coaster we've stayed on for 3 goes.
Even then traffic can be bad but we loiter after park closes and it eases.

Bananamanfan · 20/10/2018 07:44

We loved it, went for 2 days and stayed in the hotel. Very expensive, but we went in term time (June I think) and it was really quiet. DCs keep asking to go again.

Panicmode1 · 20/10/2018 07:44

YADNBU. Went once. Never. Ever. Again.
