A woman after my own heart - AIBU to think she's got it right?

I always skim read the BBC news app first thing every day and mentally note the articles to go back to read later on. But this one caught my eye. Whether you like her humour or not, I think she has the message right - and delivered in the right way, too. The YouTube clip is from Have I Got News For You, where she puts Ian Hislop's incredibly clumsy comments down with intelligence and firmness, and the other link is the actual article.

The clear embarrassment of Ian and the other panellist is rather good....!

AIBU to think - d'you know what? She's got this attitude of quiet and firm put downs in the bag - this is a damn fine way to challenge attitudes which don't recognise the rights of women and girls, which might actually be listened to.

Op I'm glad you posted this and just wanted to clarify I was enjoying jumping in with my own thoughts and wasn't trying to say that anything you'd posted was off-base. We are on the same side. :)

Comment above ('Sure, I understand' etc) was directed toward ravenmum about their post 'I said they'd be accused...'

I still get chills about that Hannibal Buress bit about Bill Cosby. I think the comedy genius of it is overlooked in the melee it brought about. It's very direct about racism and violence and funny without making the rape victims the butt of the joke. Then he follows that serious accusation with a self-depricating comment about his own lack of fame.

And the real punchline is that this was the first time in all those years of allegations that anyone sat up and took notice because a bloke had said something sensible and human about rape.

Everyone here seemed to like Nanette, which is hard-hitting and funny. It can be done.

I remember this, I thought good on her for calling them out on it. She is a great feminist role model.

She’s basically an all-round good egg, I have huge respect for her former work in mental health, she seems a hugely empathetic person.
