Leaf blowing etiquette

Neighbour (N) is very fond of leaf blowing on his drive and frontage.
He does it at 7am including weekends which would BU in itself.
However, my AIBU is that N blows them away from his house and leaves them in a heap in front of my house. My driveway and front door are round the other side of my house, so the pile doesn't interfere with me but the big pile is still in front of my house. It looks a mess. There is also a park at the top of my road and lots of dog walkers walk up past our houses and there is only one pavement, so walkers have to wade through the leaves.
AIBU to think if you want to clear the leaves from your property and its frontage you should bag them up. The council collects garden waste fortnightly and you are allowed as many leaves as you like. He has a good size garden and path to the side of the house so plenty of room for him to store the garden waste bags in between collections.
There are A LOT of leaves round here, masses of mature trees all TPOd and a park.
AIBU or AIB precious?

I feel like going out there and sweeping them all back in front of his house. But I won't.

@shallichangemyname LOL! Mine is exactly the same! It's so blatantly obvious from the way our fronts are laid out they've just blown theirs onto mine! The difference is they do it in secret when we're at work like we won't know Grin Except she must have forgetten she told me she'd bought a leaf blower and when I laughed and said jokingly 'I hope you're not going to blow them onto my front?' She looked flustered and said 'oh oh it's a sucker. It sucks them up and mulches them too'

Well she's clearly not found THAT setting!Grin

They're otherwise lovely neighbours so I just 3/4 filled our garden waste bin with leaves. 24 hours later our front is covered again!!! No one within 3 houses either side or 6 across the road even has a tree!!!

StoneofDestiny · 18/10/2018 21:51

Are the trees on your side? Is he making a point?
Either way he's a CF

shallichangemyname · 18/10/2018 21:55

No the trees aren't on my side. N is just a CF.

@shallichangemyname. GrinGrinGrin. How's your head this morning?

That's a super plan! Get drunk each week (for courage) and sweep them back late at night! Tell him you sleep sweep if he sees you and that maybe it's best he doesn't just pile leaves up infront if your drive because it plays in your subconsciousness being so out of place.

Ps. Sleep sweeping could be a real thing! I sleep walk and have been known to go downstairs to make packed lunches, empty & load dishwasher, it's fun trying to find out where I put things in my sleep ... Grin

WTF is the point of a leaf blower? Doesn't it just temporarily blow them in the desired direction until the actual wind blows them around?

SabineUndine · 19/10/2018 07:30

Instead of bagging them, compost them.

CherryPavlova · 19/10/2018 08:23

Leaf blowers are electricity gobbling, planet destroying abominations. They serve no useful purpose. Leaves are moved from one place to another - only to be blown straight back again. Either let the leaves laynwhere they fall or scoop, them up and put them on the compost heap.

RangeRider · 19/10/2018 08:27

you are allowed as many leaves as you like
I love this - I can just imagine the council jobsworth counting out the leaves and refusing to take over a certain amount Grin
What you need to do is wait til he starts blowing them over and then go and brush them back while he's stood there. And say 'I don't want your leaves, thank you'.

Snugglepiggy · 19/10/2018 08:55

Very pertinent this thread.I spent a couple of hours raking leaves and bagging them up for leaf mould the other day.We do have a leafblower but tbh I hate the thing, and raking is great exercise and therapeutic once you get going. We have a lot of trees behind us but our front garden and door get loads as we're at the end of a steep road and the wind funnels them downhill at times.Anyway came back home the next, calm day to find usually easy going DH seething.Neighbours had a garden maintenance company round and they used a blower to clear their garden, all out onto the street and down to our house so all piled up again. Before he realised what they had done they had loaded up and driven off.He is going to politely have words next time, and mention to the neighbours-who are lovely -but when he sees them.

shallichangemyname · 19/10/2018 14:53

Whereismumhiding I'm feeling slightly fragile, thankyou Grin the pile I carefully and quietly pushed back last night has been blown back to my side. Sleep sweeping may feature further in my weekend. I am a sleepwalker as it happens, the worst thing I ever did was sleepwalk out of my hotel room on holiday in skimpy nightwear and then had to go red faced to reception for a keycard!

OP this would crank the absolute hell out of me! I think I'd have to say something to him even if it meant getting up at 7 AM. I think if you sweep it over to his side he will just simply blow it all back again next day. Plus - the noise! 7am! OMG I'd kill him!
