To ban a child from going to parties.

Child at school.

Behaves well when on own, nightmare when parents are around.

Parent stayed for party at the weekend, child behaved appallingly.

Parent has told child they won’t be going to anymore parties as they can’t be trusted to behave.

I feel a bit sorry for the child (6yo). Surely the parents are being a bit harsh.

They had to so something. They might think that the other parents won’t want their child to attend any more. I’m sure this won’t be a ban for life

Allthewaves · 16/10/2018 19:26

Well you just said he behaved terribly. Did they not leave when he's behaviour escalated

Singlebutmarried · 16/10/2018 19:35

The parent apologised and said to the host they would take the DC home. Host said not to worry as it was party hi jinks and their DC wanted them to stay, so the child stayed and the parent just looked more and more mortified.

I'm sure it's not a lifetime ban. Maybe he just isn't ready for that sort of environment.

MemoryOfSleep · 16/10/2018 19:43

I think it is a reasonable response tbh.

buscaution · 16/10/2018 19:48

I did this with one of nine. The behaviour cane from the lack of social skills and ability to cope with party environments. The only way to explain it to a small child is there and then.

Boundaries have to be out in place with a child like this. Not entirely sure what the use is based on what you say.

Flowerpot2005 · 16/10/2018 19:56

Bloody predictive lol
Put=out
Issue = use

GruciusMalfoy · 16/10/2018 19:58

The parent probably just reached the end of their tether on that particular day. Perhaps the child will miss a couple of parties, which won't do them any harm.

My six year old child went to a party at the weekend. I dropped him off (one of first parties where I have done this). He behaved appallingly. I am embarrassed. I have told him no more parties (didn't say I would be more selective about parties and no more dropping off).

I feel like this post could be about me. What am I supposed to do about child's behaviour?

Bestseller · 16/10/2018 20:17

If the child's at school isn't it unusual for parents to stay? Did the other parents stay?

Singlebutmarried · 16/10/2018 20:25

The parent stayed to help out as a couple that were going to help didn’t stay in the end.
