Hospital wants to send me home after PPROM. I don’t want to go. Help.

Posting for traffic. My waters broke at home and were bright red, and I was 26 weeks with DCDA twins. I called an ambulance and was rushed to hospital where I had a huge gush of red fluid. I was counselled about preterm birth and given steroid injections. I saw a neonatal doctor who stated the most important thing was to deliver at a hospital with NICU cots.

Despite severe agonising pain, a week has passed and I haven’t given birth. Twins aren’t distressed and my observations are fine.

However I feel incredibly unwell. I keep burning hot and turning red but my temp is not raised. I feel like I have the flu or another illness. I have no energy and can barely move due to pain. Codeine won’t touch it. A midwife told me to have a hot bath which I am sure is contraindicated.

The staff want to send me home. I have stated I do not want to go home due to me living an hour from the hospital and the risk of infection, cord compression, preterm delivery and stillbirth. I do not want to lose my babies. I want to remain in the unit with NICU like the doctor advised.

Can anyone give me any advice? I can’t find any info on this anywhere and feel like the staff are fobbing me off.

Thank you everyone. The midwife who was on is lovely and has given me some codeine. She agreed with me we need to find out what is causing this.

God it's so painful. Its going into my hips which is weird.

The only thing that works on these pains is gas and air. Exactly a week before pprom I had contractions severe enough to call an ambulance for, and they all thought I was in Labour at 25 weeks. I had gas and air in the ambulance and it was such a relief.

Those contractions stopped after two hours and it was a week before I lost the waters. Fed up of being in pain now.

I just wanted to add my voice to the people who are saying write everything down and make records of what has been said. I had problems with my delivery and thought about complaining and that I would remember everything. I didn't. Timelines got muddled in my head and sO ended up not making a complaint. I regret it. Changes can only be made if mistakes are highlighted properly.

Sorry! - pressed Post too soon! Wanted to put some Flowers in too and say good luck!

Gierg · 17/10/2018 08:18

Oh OP! I've read the full thread and I really feel for you!

From my experience of being in hospital you do have to be annoying to get what you need. They are so pressed and things do get forgotten. Don't be afraid to ring the bell or shout for someone. Don't be afraid to keep asking for help! It's not acceptable to be left waiting!

You're in the right place and I hope everything goes well for you from now!

CatsEye99 · 17/10/2018 08:34

Thank you. Seen the Dr now. They don't know why my waters are red but have said they are repeating my bloods to check for infection. I keep going hot and cold and my face turns bright red (I am very fair skinned so its very obvious) but my obs show nothing so the staff don't seem to be concerned. I told the Dr this and she seemed to take it seriously.

OP I hope the day goes well for you, brings some answers, less pain and reassurance that your babies are doing well. I am thinking of you.

Caprisunorange · 17/10/2018 09:05

Oh Op I read this thread overnight and just wanted to send some love your way. Hope today is productive for you

peachsquish · 17/10/2018 09:47

Hoping you get some answers today.

ineedwine99 · 17/10/2018 10:13

Keeping my fingers crossed for you OP that everything is ok and your soon pain free. You had such an awful time Flowers

LemonySippet · 17/10/2018 10:30

Flowers for you OP, hope you get some answers soon xx

MemoryOfSleep · 17/10/2018 10:31

Well done for fighting. It can't be easy, particularly as in this country we are conditioned not to make a fuss. Hang in there, you're doing great. Flowers

CatsEye99 · 17/10/2018 10:40

I feel shaky but can't tell if its from lack of sleep or something more sinister. I've told them but as my obs are fine they've said its okay...

OP posts:
MemoryOfSleep · 17/10/2018 10:44

If your obs are fine hold on to that for now. I reckon at this point your extreme anxiety plus sleep deprivation may well be causing some symptoms.

NoSquirrels · 17/10/2018 10:48

Is there anything safe they can give you to help you sleep? You really need to sleep to let your body and mind rest. Flowers

Sexnotgender · 17/10/2018 10:58

No advice but a hand hold from me, I’m 26 weeks with a single and I cannot imagine how scared you are.

Toomanytoremember · 17/10/2018 10:59

I can't even imagine what you are going through, I hope you get some proper answers today Flowers

Tatiannatomasina · 17/10/2018 11:01

How are your blood sugar levels?

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 17/10/2018 11:03

Could you have appendicitis OP?

CatsEye99 · 17/10/2018 11:04

Just out it desperation rang my old recurrent losses team to ask them if this had happened to anyone else in my situation (I have antiphospolipid syndrome and take blood thinners) because the nurses here don't seem very aware of what it is and keep telling me conflicting info about whether to inject or not.

Got told it's nothing to do with them anymore and they can't help me.

No midwives or nurses have been to see me to take these bloods or take me to my scan I'm supposed to be having.

My skin is still burning up but no one is even slightly concerned.

I feel forgotten about again.

OP posts:
CatsEye99 · 17/10/2018 11:04

I haven't had blood sugars done, hadn't thought of appendicitis either.

OP posts:
AllHallowsQueen · 17/10/2018 11:15

Have they given you magnesium sulfate OP? I was given that to protect the babies’ brains and it causes flushing and feeling hot like you are describing.

CatsEye99 · 17/10/2018 11:15

No, I was told I'll be given that it I start to go into labour

OP posts:
CatsEye99 · 17/10/2018 11:49

My partner has been to ask for a midwife three times now as we don't know what is happening with bloods or scan and still no one

OP posts:
frogsoup · 17/10/2018 12:11

Sorry to state the obvious, but could you just be in early labour? With my 26-weeker I was full on contracting for 5 days (5 minutes or so apart!) before going into actual active labour and i felt horrific.
