AIBU?
AIBU to say police infiltrating political groups should never have sexual relations with the people they are spying on?

The Guardian has revealed ongoing infiltration of assorted small political groups over the past 30 years. Some police officers began sexual relations with members. Whilst this infiltration is unlikely to surprise many people, surely a relationship formed where one partner is subject to such a degree of deception, cannot be consensual ?

It's not illegal though is it. If I slept with a guy who told me he was a successful businessman and he turned out to be unemployed or something he's not guilty of a crime.

YANBU, from a moral perspective it’s absolutely disgusting

complete bastards. Some had children under false pretences.

Its not illegal but neither is it informed consent, is it? It's deception. In fact its obtaining something by deception that would never have received consent if the full facts were known.

I agree that it is wrong but I cam see how in some rare instances it may be necessary to gain trust and information.

May be necessary? Really? It seems that these infiltrators were men, I haven't heard that any female officers were seducing men in order to obtain the sensitive information you seem to think can only be gathered by getting your leg over.
