Hi, i a considering a career change and trying to figure out if I can afford it. So wondered if you're a learning Assistant and how much you take home each month, part time or full time.

Thanks for any answers.

That's mean, @Lynne1Cat .

OP if you have a look on TES Jobs for teaching assistant roles, that might help you.

Petitepamplemousse · 14/10/2018 20:49

Wow. What an unnecessarily spiteful post from Lynne. Couple of errors in your post, hardly enough to stop someone from being a TA! Goodness me. I don’t know the take home pay but I think it’s quite low, OP.

Holidayshopping · 14/10/2018 20:50

The teaching assistants at my school work 8.15-3.15 and take home about £550-£600 a month if that helps.

rainbowlou · 14/10/2018 20:50

The pay is utterly crap!

ToffeePennie · 14/10/2018 20:51

My take home as a HLTA was £850 a month.

ATowelAndAPotato · 14/10/2018 20:51

Wow, that was a bit unnecessary Lynne1cat

cheesemumma I’m sorry, I don’t know, but hopefully someone else will able to help you. Perhaps someone who understands that SPAG doesn’t need to be perfect on an Internet forum, and isn’t always reflective of how capable someone is in RL...

Snappedandfarted2018 · 14/10/2018 20:51

That’s a bitchy and unnecessary comment Lynne. I wondered this myself about doing the course but decided against it.

Wednesdaypig · 14/10/2018 20:53

I take home 12 monthly payments of £950 for 27 hours a week (45 weeks).

OxanaVorontsova · 14/10/2018 20:54

ours are called learning support assistants, so nearer to OP than nasty Lynne1Cat. Pay is low but have a look here for an idea

cheesemumma · 14/10/2018 20:56

@lynne1cat aren't you a treat? You literally know nothing about me,or why you post had some mistakes. But thanks for your condescension. P.s. at the school I currently work in they are called learning assistants.

Thanks mscockles. I was looking for a take home wage just to see, but I'll have a look there now.

Brilliant, thanks for your responses. Oh, it's less than I thought. I was imagining more towards the £900 range, I know it's a tough job!

Without knowing your weekly hours it's impossible to work out your pay from advertised rates as that is the salary you would get by working 35 ( or is it 37.5?) hours for 52 weeks. Unless the ad specifies actual salary of course.

StripeyDeckchair · 14/10/2018 21:04

Most TAs are on term time only contracts plus inset days - that's 39 weeks. In primary school they then work part time hours so about 27.5 hrs/week, in secondary they're more likely to do 37 hrs/wk to run after school homework clubs etc.

This means that you'll be on 65%_70 % of the annual salary which will be £14k-£19k.

The replies from this thread might help.

A friend of mine earns around £800 net per month as a TA, she's in SE England

spongebunnyfatpants · 15/10/2018 17:44

I'm employed for 30 hours a week, my pay includes all holidays (so I'm paid all year) and my salary or £11,000.

cookiesandchocolate · 15/10/2018 17:55

I take home £9 an hour. I'm paid 44 weeks of the year. I work 25 hours a week, 38 weeks of the year

Geraniumpink · 15/10/2018 18:23

I take home £740 a month and supplement it by doing private tutoring.
