My 10 month old wont eat or drink

My 10 month old has always been a big eater. I'm talking 45-54oz a day. She's very busy and never stops moving. She is behind on weaning and may have a spoonful of porridge and a little carrot a day most so it's not really anything to do with being full from solids.

Today she's had 18oz. The last time she had any fluids or food at all was at 1:30. Any time something is offered she jolts her head away and if you put the bottle in her mouth she starts choking on the milk/water. Food is just a no go too. She's was inconsolable for about and hour at around 5pm, and keeps bursting into tears for significant amounts of time. She doesn't have a temperature, or a snotty nose or cough.

Aibu being really worried, do I just put her to bed and see what happens? Im really worried putting her down without anything to eat or drink since lunch time.

Not the same at all but when my DD had bronchiolitis at 3mo the doctor said one of the signs of dehydration was that their fontanelle is sunken - so look out for that as well as her nappies. Another doctor recommended neurofen for the sore throat and to try and feed 15 mins after. She said it worked better than calpol. I do second the view to get her to a doctor today though. Hope she's better soon.

She seems fairly happy this morning and took a bottle at around 7. Called the doctor, but best they can do is a phone consultation so just waiting to hear back

Hi all, doctor didn't call. Was told he would call before surgery closing time (5:30). DD has only had one bottle since my last post. (1pm). Do I call 111

Have you given her calpol? Will she take calpol and then a bottle after it's kicked in? Is she alert? Is her soft spot sunken? Has she wet nappies?

If yes to these I'd be inclined to wait it out. If no, call 111.

spugzbunny · 15/10/2018 17:50

(Should say that no is the correct answer for her soft spot, if it's sunken call 111 straight away)

Ratbagratty · 15/10/2018 17:54

Call 111, that's not a lot for a 10 month old.

TwoGinScentedTears · 15/10/2018 17:57

The doctor may well ring back yet.

Will she take any fluids at all?

Ceecee18 · 15/10/2018 17:57

I would go to an urgent care centre/walk in centre if there's one near you. Failing that then 111. She's taking a lot less than usual and clearly in some discomfort. I would guess at tonsillitis as well.

How's your dd today @poptartprincess

My 12m old DD had hand foot and mouth a few weeks ago and wouldn’t eat for about 3 days. She is big into solids though and was only having 2 bottles a day normally, but we were lucky and she would take her bottles so I just increased them and she was fine.

I would be worried if she won’t even drink bottles. If you think she’s dehydrated then def get medical advice
