to feel unnerved by how my pregnant body feels?

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and literally overnight my body feels different. My back hurts, baby feels like it's about to fall out, my bump feels ridiculously heavy, vagina is achey etc.

Yesterday I felt completely normal. A bit uncomfortable but I felt similar to how I did before I was pregnant.

Now, I just feel... weird. Heavy.

Is it normal to suddenly feel so different and so much more uncomfortable overnight?

AIBU to feel really unnerved by it? I know pregnancy is scary and weird but I feel so anxious I could cry...

Could be the start of labour, that's what I felt like the night before I had DS

LeaM · 14/10/2018 19:11

@Biancadelriosback really? I feel so odd. Just really anxious and panicky. Hopefully can keep baby cooking a little longer!

If you feel really heavy the baby might be engaging. That can mean it’s starting or it’s still ages away I think, but still.. it’s a start!

SodTheBloodyLotOfThem · 14/10/2018 19:15

If you're feeling unsettled and anxious it won't hurt to see your midwife tomorrow. I woke up one morning feeling odd, spaced out, turns out my blood pressure had shit up and DD was born the next day (41 +1)

LeaM · 14/10/2018 19:16

I might just give her a call in the morning. I feel like a nuisance though...

Baby might have ‘dropped’ and engaged? Would account for why it all suddenly feels heavier and putting on your cervix. Don’t forget tho 38 weeks IS fully baked.... I remember my GP lecturing me about not having hospital bag etc ready to go at the 38 week appointment and me being all yeah yeah I’ve got weeks yet..... wasn’t so sanguine 4 days later when my waters broke! Better get ready....!

OneStepSideways · 14/10/2018 19:18

I felt like that just before I went into labour. Especially the panicky anxious feeling! 37 weeks is full term so nothing to worry about.

Good luck OP 😊

SodTheBloodyLotOfThem · 14/10/2018 19:18

You're not being a nuisance. It's their actual job to check on the well-being of pregnant women and their babies! Make sure your bag is packed and your phone is charged just in case.

CoolGirlsNeverGetAngry · 14/10/2018 19:20

You’re prob just nearing labour! I had exactly the same!

LeaM · 14/10/2018 19:20

Bag has been packed since 35 weeks Smile I'm not usually organised, just know what my luck is like! Had so many scares that I thought I'd better be prepared early.

This last bit is so tricky. Unnerving. Especially when you suffer from real severe anxiety.

Maybe baby dropped ?

LeaM · 14/10/2018 19:21

@ilooovechristmas possibly! (P.s. I love Christmas too!)

Get your midwife to check you over tomorrow. Better safe than sorry. That said, this is how I felt the day before I went into labour w ds1.

LeaM · 14/10/2018 19:23

I know 37 weeks is a healthy time to give birth (and I had steroid injections a while back because they were worried about baby earlier in pregnancy) but it just feels so... soon! Fingers crossed it's just me being overly anxious and baby has just dropped a bit Grin

I can totally relate as my panic attacks are triggered by any out of the ordinary bodily sensations. I found being heavily pregnant a terrible trigger for anxiety - you feel so heavy and cumbersome, everything feels under pressure. It's an awful feeling! Hang in there though because once the baby is out that feeling of lightness and having your body back is amazing - I was the most relaxed I'd ever been for weeks afterwards!

Thishatisnotmine · 14/10/2018 19:55

Ugh, I remember that with both pregnancies. Like a switch had been flicked. About 36 weeks with both. I think it was my body's way of making me slow down. I had to walk slower, go to bed earlier, sit more instead of standing etc.

Biancadelriosback · 14/10/2018 19:59

Happened to me when I was 34 weeks and boom, 12 hours later I had my DS.

LeaM · 14/10/2018 19:59

Thanks everyone. I'm so bloomin' anxious it's unreal. Every tiny symptom I think is labour. Constantly checking toilet paper for mucus plug. Anxiety is a bitch...

@LeaM hope you're ok! Anxiety is shit, especially during an already naturally anxious time such as an impending labour/baby. Hate to be a parrot but I only really felt how you described the day before I gave birth to DD too. Like my body could not take anymore, it was to heavy, I was done! Almost all women feel some level of anxiety towards the end of the pregnancy & if you already naturally suffer it's bound to be worse! You really will be ok though, I'm sure Smile talk to a midwife, tell her you're feeling anxious! I did with mine & she was great really settled my nerves Flowers

Poodles1980 · 14/10/2018 20:53

I felt like this for the last two weeks of my last pregnancy, felt like the baby would fall out of me at any time and I was so achy and anxious. Had him at 38 weeks and all was well

holycityzoo · 14/10/2018 20:54

I've had 4dc and it sounds to me very much like your baby has dropped.
Has the shape of your bump changed at all?
Sometimes it goes lower but not always my first didn't it was really high but I was fully engaged.
