ucanttouchthis · 14/10/2018 09:40

Is it possible ?
Can anyone share stories?
I really need someone to tell me I can do it.
I'm waiting to see a CPN for therapy /counselling
If you have took medication which ones plus how did you feel with it?
Any advice would be so very grateful

Taking medication can give you the mental space to work on your anxiety. I take 20mg of citalopram and it really works for me.
Sounds like with your level of symptoms you may struggle to focus on therapy without some help in the way of medication.
I didn’t have any side effects.

I can't take them, i tried but they worsened my other conditions which the CMHT Drs then refused to accept. Now I'm refused any mental health care at all by them (including crisis where those referring are told I refuse to try) on the grounds I "won't engage"

If you have the option then at least, I can't comment on other cmht but mine won't accept my difficulties are anywhere near as severe as they are simply because I cannot take meds.

I've depression, anxiety and PTSD none of which are considered an actual problem because of not being able to take meds and my diagnosis was then changed to borderline personality disorder and "attention seeker".

I have severe anxiety linked to my PTSD. Taking Pregabalin has really helped with the physical symptoms and I also take Trazodone at night. If you are given meds it's for a reason.

Many SRIs are actually quite safe for pregnancy. Check with your provider.

Untreated anxiety and depression in pregnancy isn't the best for the baby.

I can't recommend CBD oil enough!! It's stopped all my physical symptoms like palpitations and what I call barbed wire butterflies! Without those physical symptoms, I could respond much more calmly to situations. I feel like it put me out of fight or flight mode and allowed my higher brain to deal with things "normally".
I didn't find medication helpful for me at all, but CBD has been like a miracle. That's of course just my personal experience but I was very badly affected by anxiety and now I'm managing it.
Best of luck with it, Flowers

Sorry i should say you should definitely use CBD oil along side cbt and mindfulbess, exercise, healthy eating etc.

I am trying to not sure how successfully. Basically I've never really been a anxious person but last year my son was involved in a nasty accident at school he had just started. It resulted in getting a panicked call from school , being blue lighted to hospital , emergency surgery , terrible pain fir him snd a hospital stay. It was a horrific time and we had months of hospital appointments and ended up not sending him back to school and deferring him till this year. We moved house and visited other schools and applied for this year. I just sort of coped some how but a few months ago I woke in the night feeling sick , sweaty , shaky and my heart pounding I was sure I was dying. My husband thought I was being ridiculous but I've never felt anything like it. The doctor said panic attack due to traumatic event. I has my second attack last night again from sleep was awful and so scary again. I've had a few times between the few of feeling very anxious and on edge but not a attack. Always at night for me. I've been using magnesium spray and taking b vitamins and I have been to one meditation class I then missed the next one so am going again this week as o did find it helpful. I am also going to ask to be referred to a counsellor and look into starting yoga. A little thing I read online was massaging your hands and I do feel it helps if I am just feeling a touch anxious. I have also started to research reiki for anxiety. I hate it and just want it to go if I ignore it but that's not working so I'm going to actively read up on it and try and find what works for me. Good luck Ok sending you good wishes.

Escatalpram can be taken in 5 mg doses. I believe it's the lowest dose and worked for me, I was on it for three years and came of it without any problems. Maybe start on a low dose and see if it helps.

Biancadelriosback · 15/10/2018 19:49

I've started taking CBD oil and it's working somewhat. I had an episode today and the first thing my mum said was "what do you have to be anxious about?" And when I couldn't pin point what the problem was, she just kept telling me I need help.

CuriousMama · 26/10/2018 11:45

How are you doing OP?

I'm coming off citalopram as I've been on it for eons. I'm thinking of trying cbd oil as have heard good things about it. I definitely know citalopram has helped me enormously though and will go back on them if nothing else helps.

I agree with exercise helping. I felt a little anxious yesterday as was going back to my old job. I went to the gym and did some treadmill and weights and felt great. Plus I've reassessed my eating as I Do love food a bit too much. I'm eating more fruit vegetables and pulses and making sure I drink plenty of water. I've also started taking a pre/probiotic and omega 3. There's a strong link between gut health and the mind. And apparently most of us are lacking in omega 3?

I agree with looking at anxiety as the adrenal glands not working properly and forgetting any stigma. I think drinking and smoking from an early age may have had something to do with my problems. But I didn't have a good childhood either so that didn't help.
