So a friend of mine has just posted on FB about their not yet 6 month old baby eating her first McDonalds!! FFS!!!!

Yes, it’s up there with fgm and whipping.
Poor child, we should crowd fund for therapy

Deliberately giving a child something that could give them health problems or premature death is abuse

This is another of those thinly disguised threads where the OP can pat themselves on the back as to how superior their parenting is, whilst posters pile on in some sort of misguided mutual appreciation club.

A friend of mine posted a picture of her 6 month old swigging from a can of coke...... couldn't be arsed to get worked up about it though. Not great parenting but definitely not abuse.

I actually agree that it's a very stupid idea because the baby will get a taste for ridiculous salty and fatty food but it's not abuse and hopefully the baby hardly ate any of it anyway.

I ageee with you OP. Dunno why the replies have turned into abuse top trumps Hmm So those who have commented thus far would have fed your babies McDonald's?! Wow...

Baby being given a shot of sambucca is abusive. Gumming on a nugget is not even close.

It's a chicken nugget, not polonium Confused

No, it's just not child abuse Hmm

No. I worked on the premise “food is fun until they’re one”. She was exclusively BF until 7 months and wasn’t really interested in doing much more than gumming food until 12 months

Still doesn’t mean what the OP posted is abuse.

Is it half term already?

5.5 month old had a whole happy meal? Really?

Report

PerryPerryThePlatypus · 13/10/2018 12:27

Why are you assuming it's the mother fifty?

Says the person starting a thread comparing a chicken nugget to child abuse Wink

A chicken nugget has never crossed my children’s lips but so fucking what if someone else does? Does it harm you in anyway? I’ll make sure to let my husband, who was seriously abused as a child, to feel better about it because Jesus a Christ, a baby ate a chicken nugget 😱😱😱

Report

RoboJesus · 13/10/2018 12:28

@TreMonet why do you find abuse funny?

Report

HopeGarden · 13/10/2018 12:29

It’s not ideal, but one Happy Meal is a long way from “verging on abuse”.

Report

AlphaBravo · 13/10/2018 12:30

@Partyfops when you look at them nutritionally, McDonalds happymeals actually completely terrible. And chicken nuggets are not toxic.

If it was a fish finger you wouldn't exactly be raging. There is no difference between the two. Chill the fuck out fgs. How bizarre.

Report

Grimbles · 13/10/2018 12:30

Robojesus. Why are you making light of child abuse?

PerryPerryThePlatypus · 13/10/2018 12:30

A defective heating system can cause health problems and premature death. Do you not use your heating in winter? Or go in a car? Or cross the road? Or eat an egg? The list is endless.

Elementtree · 13/10/2018 12:30

I really do think some people need to widen they grey area between good parenting and abusive parenting.

Report

Jaxtellerswife · 13/10/2018 12:31

@RoboJesus I would hazard a guess that the laughter is for the implication that a chicken nugget could be considered abuse and lead to death

Report

Feelings · 13/10/2018 12:31

Of course it's not abuse, and you know it isn't abuse. It's offensive that you would even label it as abuse.

A bad choice of food is a better way to describe the scenario, but it certainly isn't the worst. If she were feeding the child out of a dustbin then that would be neglect but she isn't doing that is she.
