How much sleep do you get at night?

Sleep is really important to me- I just don’t feel I can function without a full 8-9 hours each night.

My DH only needs about 6 hours and is joking about the amount of sleep I need - I thought 8 hours was the average?

How much sleep does everyone else get then?

My sleep tracker shows that o average 3 hours since my daughter arrived. She’s 2 now, so god knows when it’ll get better.

Husband gets up with her on weekends so o can have some extra.

Naturally I like a full 8 hours

3 hours 🤭, that’s harsh, hope that improves

Typically around 6-7 hours per night. Sometimes less if I'm not sleeping well. Very rare to average more than 7 hours in any given week.

I think 8-9 hours is a lot for an adult, and I very much doubt that 8 hours is "average" but if it's what you need and you can fit it in, then all power to you!

I go to bed at 11/11.30 and alarm goes off at 7am. So probably 7 and a bit hours.

I get about 8 on average but last night I slept badly and only got 5

Much less than I thought, since I got the Fitbit.... 7 hours 11 minutes average last week.

Different people need different amounts, but the practical minimum for sanity (sorry Thehop and all parents of anyone under about 3) is six hours. Studies show that except for occasional mutants no-one can cope on much less than that (including Margaret Thatcher, famous for saying she got by happily on four - she didn't, she was fucked up by it). Very few people who aren't unwell need more than 9 hours regularly.

I bounce between 3 and 9 hours, myself. Chronic crap sleeper.

6-7 hours of broken sleep as I have an eternally wakeful toddler. Huge improvement from his babyhood though, where 5 hours broken sleep was considered good by me!
Pre-baby I definitely had a good 8 hours each night and longer at weekends.
