Plastic surgeon treating ds differently because boys don’t care as much about their appearance

In uk. Ds had accident 4 months ago plastic surgeon said at review he might be more likely to offer revision surgery if ds was a girl.
Ds is nearly 3 and had a big cut to forehead 2.5 across.
4 months on I’m using silicon treatment and it’s helping slightly but still scar looks bad- pinched and dented almost.
I think little boys and girls should have the same treatment available surely?! Aibu to push for another review with different surgeon?

Your sons scar is only 4 months old it takes a while for the the skin to heal.
Are you massaging the scar and using bio oil or something equivalent.
My Ds has a lot of scars to his face and bum/leg he had his facial injuries repaired by a plastic surgeon and his bum/leg scars repaired by another doctor not a plastic surgeon in the same op.
there is a big difference in the scars I have to admit.
Scars take a while to settle down Imo my sons scars are almsost 5 years old now and as he is nearly 6 his scars look different at times as he is growing.

Personally I'd be more worried about a scar on a boy's forehead because a girl could grow a fringe, but a boy could go bald and not be able to hide it at all.

I have been guilty of the same though - my DS has a bad scar on his upper arm, he can have surgery if he wants but he doesn't want to. We could have made the decision for him when he was younger but decided to leave it to him in case it turned out he wasn't bothered. Had he been a girl though I think we might have made the decision ourselves and got it sorted because we would have assumed that "she" would be bothered. I do think that if he was a girl he would have wanted it done though and that it IS the difference between the sexes that makes him not care about it.

I'd completely forgotten until now that when dd got a small cut to her face aged 3, I was told to take her to Minor Injuries "as she's a girl".

This is sexist and to the detriment of both boys and girls. Boys should have access to the same treatment. Girls shouldn't get the idea their worth is more contained in their looks than boys'.
