To ask how to raise £300 by 1 November?

I really need £300, and I've tried to sell my unworn clothes on eBay and various sites online, Facebook etc. Only sold one item, and it's not like I'm selling it for high price, only £10. I just need the money now, what else can I do?

Have you got any old furniture you could paint and sell as ‘shabby chic’ on eBay. I used to do this and made ends meet several times. Coming up to Xmas people are looking at tables and chairs etc.

Actually that’s exactly how my pub jobs always worked when I was a student. Went in until I found one that was hiring; started that day or so; paid weekly. 3 shifts was around £50 a week. As this was 20 years ago, it would pay more now, or you could do more shifts.

This may not well work for the OP if she can’t sell alcohol for religious reasons, of course, and a cafe or shop would require more training. But the PP wasn’t wrong. Unless things have changed a lot, which may be true as I am now so old!

OP, sometimes you see adverts for proof reading that you can do at home; would you be able to do a bit of that?

I think things have changed enormously. Plus, it's a bit easier to get hired as a student who can be flexible with hours etc. The OP (presumably) has a job already or can't find one for reasons we may not understand. If she could earn the cash easily I'm sure she would have done so.

I thought free shipping would attract attention, I have so much clothes I need to get rid of, hope this works. I've even thought on doing auction on Sunday?

Don't do free shipping, it's not worth it.

Have you asked your bank for an overdraft?

AnonaMouse1 · 13/10/2018 09:22

But what's it for op?

speakout · 13/10/2018 09:35

I think we need a bit more information OP.

Why do you need the money?

That's important because you may not need as much as you think in the timescale that you think.

For instance if it is to pay a utility bill- then if you get in touch with the company they will be able to arrange easier payment options.

So whatever reason you " need" the money, have a think whether that £300 has to be paid or given in that exact amount and in that specified time frame.

Do you work? Could you do overtime?
Have you tried your bank? Many banks will give interest free overdrafts- especially if it is for a limited time period.

Hello everyone
We've had a number of reports from people concerned about this thread so, as we usually do in these circs, we're putting our heads round the door with some important reminders.

Right now we can't see any evidence to indicate that the OP isn't above board – if we did, we'd remove the thread straight away. But the truth is that, sadly, we at MNHQ can't know with 100% certainty that any poster is genuine, no matter who they are or how long they have been here. As frustrating as it is, we're not able to vouch for anyone here.

So we always ask everyone to remember that not everyone on the internet is who they say they are – and remind folk not to give more to another poster, either financially (in cash or gifts) or emotionally (in time or care and support) than they'd be prepared to lose if things went wrong.

Sorry to hijack your thread briefly there, OP – we really hope you get it all sorted soon.

No I get that but just from what I notice on my high street, a few pubs offering evening shifts with an immediate start, thought something like that could add to the pot Smile

Think of it like this. You just need £3 but 100 times.

What can you trim from your budget to save some £3s here and there? Your £10 eBay sale should account for another. Online surveys. Mystery shopping. Websites like Seagbucks.

Don’t look at the whole £300 or it will terrify you.

Tahani · 16/10/2018 12:32

what is it you need it for?

Urbanbeetler · 16/10/2018 12:42

Would anyone at your mosque help you?

What's your skill set? Have a look on this website and see if you can pick up some admin work or similar from home.

They don't give you what it's worth for sure.but if you check your paper locally, there are people who buy up stuff you want to car boot but don't have the time, energy etc .They will take away just about anything and give you cash.but like I say,you won't get its value.but just a thought.good luck
