AIBU to be fed up of promotional items being shit?

We are looking to order some promotional items for our customers for Christmas gifts.
Looking online it's always the same tat. Pens, mugs etc.
AIBU to ask what your favourite promotional gift is you've received or heard of someone receiving.

We own our own company in the engineering industry and really want to give our customers something that's actually useful and not just going to be thrown away. We actually really like all of the people we do business with and would rather spend more money if it means they will receive something they enjoy. Preferably something we can put our logo on.

Key rings?
I sell lots of those as everyone uses them.
You can also get ones that are trolley tokens too.

Shopping bags?
Everyone needs them too.

Thereshegoesagain · 12/10/2018 20:34

My DH came back with a promotional power bank and nice water bottle yesterday. Quite liked those.

thesandwich · 12/10/2018 20:36

USB memory sticks?

ScreamingValenta · 12/10/2018 20:38

A decent pen - Parker type that takes a refill. It came in a box with a matching propelling pencil.

Bombardier25966 · 12/10/2018 20:39

How much are you looking to spend?

I agree with the USB stick idea, as long as they're decent quality and a decent amount of storage.

AuntBeastie · 12/10/2018 20:40

The freebie I’ve used more than any other is a nail file. I don’t use usb sticks cos everything is backed up online but others might. Like the idea of trolley tokens

Fuckedoffat48b · 12/10/2018 20:41

Posh food and booze. Mince pies from Betty's have gone down best ime, and they get shared and everybody talks about them.

Gammeldragz · 12/10/2018 20:42

Best one we received was mini tape measures. Actually really useful!

Rabbitjam · 12/10/2018 20:43

We had a calendar from our heating oil supplier, with nice landscape photographs in it, that has been very useful

SilverHairedCat · 12/10/2018 20:43

Nice pens. Not cheap tat, good ones.

Can you find fiddle toys that are cleverly engineered?

Muddlingalongalone · 12/10/2018 20:43

Best promo giveaway we've had recently are branded usb phone chargers which have different wires for iphone/android etc
Tiny and so handy. Powerbanks also good.

Gammeldragz · 12/10/2018 20:46

The tape measures were on a keyring. DH and I both use ours and the kids have used them too. They were from an engineering type company too.

TheFifthKey · 12/10/2018 20:47

I’d like a power bank. Thick canvas tote bags with a discreet logo. Umbrellas (if not flimsy and prone to break immediately). Water bottles or good travel mugs.

Olivo · 12/10/2018 20:47

Lidded cups, like the ones Waitrose sell for hot drinks. Or decent water bottles.

greendale17 · 12/10/2018 20:48

Anything food will go down well. Avoid at all costs-

Clothing
Cheap pens
Mugs
Water bottles
Memory sticks
Bags

Bookishandblondish · 12/10/2018 20:48

Best feedback my old company had was for umbrellas - really good quality and black with a small logo.

SilverHairedCat · 12/10/2018 20:49

I've found it!

Marmite27 · 12/10/2018 20:50

I got an Aviva goodie bag a while back, and everything in it has been used.

A biro with a highlighter concealed in the top, a trolly coin, a power bank, a usb stick and a tablet/phone stand. Plus chocolate, mints and a water bottle.

Oh and there was a bus squishy stress ball thing.

YouWereRight · 12/10/2018 20:50

A gigantic tub of sweets, the one dp received, had some better quality, but not super posh, pens in too.

glueandstick · 12/10/2018 20:50

I’ve seen promotional office plants. I like that as an idea. Things to make the environment better.

Or coffee cups/water bottles/reusable straws

TheFaerieQueene · 12/10/2018 20:50

Post - it pads

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 12/10/2018 20:50

Mini Bluetooth speaker, that was an ace freebie. I agree with PP suggestion of a power bank or charging cable - something that will be used frequently and isn't just plastic tat. Or even a reusable travel coffee cup?

Ontheboardwalk · 12/10/2018 20:51

I like the idea of power banks, the lipstick sized ones would go down well with me.

Stinkbomb · 12/10/2018 20:51

USB memory sticks always useful, a travel cup/water bottle, big umbrella, wine & cheese!, decent hampers.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 12/10/2018 20:52

What about one of those cards you keep in your wallet to block people electronically stealing your bank details through contactless? Can you get those made as promotional items?
