If someone banged on your patio doors and you were home alone would you not answer the door?

Either way, never answer a bang or a knock on your rear door.

I always check first before I answer the door whether it be during the day or early evening, if I don't know the caller I don't answer the door at all.

I would have gone upstairs and looked out of the window tbh, but then not everyone's windows open like mine where you can stick your head and shoulders out.

Could it have been the wind?

This happened to me once 11.30 at night - I went to the door and it was the Police. They said they had had reports of intruders in the gardens and they wanted people to know they were keeping an eye out.

Well the only bloody intruder In my garden was them - and thanks for that - I jumped at every noise and got.no sleep whatsoever that night.

Far from making me feel safe they absolutely scared the life out of me.

I knocked on someone's patio doors this week. Our sheep had escaped through a hedge into the field behind that led to their garden. I thought it only polite to explain why we were running about the back of their property trying to stop the sheep damaging their garden. In your situation I would have at least opened the blind and to see who was there, they could have been collecting a pet which had run into the garden or something that had blown in.
