Wibu to complain to the hospital about this?

I had to take toddler ds to the children's hospital today for an outpatient appointment.

After his appointment he needed a wee. The toilets were absolutely fucking disgustingly gross.

There were two cubicles, one toilet was blocked and full of pissy shitty water, the seat covered with splashes urine. The other had no toilet paper, and the seat was again covered in urine, and poo smears. There were puddles of pee on the floor and they absolutely stunk.

Normally in those circumstances I'd just wet some tissue and wipe the seat, but the poo made it beyond this. The hand washing facilities were manky too. A member of staff came in to wash her hands and I mentioned how dirty they were, she just shrugged and said they're always like that.

I know it's the disgusting people who leave it like this, but as this is a children's hospital, with already sick children, surely they need a cleaner manning the toilets?

Aibu to think they need someone cleaning the toilets more regularly?

By the way if you are someone who leave toilets in this state you are a disgusting selfish pig, that's actually an insult to pigs, you're a rat.

YWNBU.
It’s a health hazard and they need to organise staff to deal with it.

I actually don't even think that it should be a cleaner job to clean up after lazy slob who can't even use a toilet properly or wipe up after their own children.

But something needs to be done, I don't expect much from public loos, but poo on the seat is as you say, a health hazard.

You can complain but you’ll probably find there’s sweet FA they can do about it as cleaning services is now usually contracted to a facilities company. You could find out who they use though and complain, might be more worthwhile but from experience the contracted companies usually give no fucks. That’s privatisation for you!

Mishappening · 12/10/2018 17:38

There is usually a notice in hospital toilets showing when they were last cleaned and suggesting that if they are not up to scratch you should inform a member of staff.

I really do think you should make a complaint about this as it impacts directly on health and spread of infection.

I hate to say this, as I know that the NHS has its back against the wall, but writing to the local paper is probably the only way that some real action might happen. It just wants a reporter to pop in and take a few pics............

yanbu
disgusting and a health hazard

tbh nothing will be done, had the same on the maternity ward with the added bonus of blood splatters and a shower that didn't have warm water. midwife just shrugged...

That's vile. I've spent (too much) time on children's wards and in a children's hospital, the toilets have never been less than spotless in any of the facilities. Not always modern, but always clean! I would definitely make a complaint.

Iliveinthezoo · 12/10/2018 17:54

Sod it then, I'll make a complaint, I know nothing will probably be done but at least I know I'll have tried.

The fact that the staff member said they're always like that shows it wasn't just a one off.

I don't expect spotless (though it would be nice), but they really were unusable.
