To wish people would just say their child's age

Not a taat but about many threads. In lots of threads the op will say things like Year 5 or KS whatever to describe the child's age and I don't have a clue what they're talking about as the schooling system is not the same the U.K. (or indeed the world) over.
AIBU to wish people would just put the child's age?

Oh right. Well I'm going to email school and see if I can get up on Monday sometime to discuss, even if it isn't relevant for DD it might be for some.

I would mention the school year in a post if it was relevant - what work dc would be doing, etc - but my ds is an August birthday so he is always a year behind. So his classmates would be say five in reception (F2, to confuse pps even more Grin) and he was four the whole way through. But as someone upthread said, sometimes the year group is relevant depending on what the issue is they're posting about, so it helps to put it in.

I agree it's more helpful to put both in, or just the age if it's nothing to do with academics or school in general. If a Scottish poster put that their dc was in P3, putting their age in as well would be helpful for everyone too.

I went to school in Scotland and am used to Primary 1, Primary 2, etc, but at high school we were first years, second years, etc and all this were fields

I wish people used the child's age as I have no concept of what age a yr 5 or yr 9 child is.
I am 545 months old but after working that out I feel more like 550 months old !
