To feel gutted

Been healthy eating for the last 3 weeks, restricting calories to around 1200 a day and also going to the gym 3 times a week.

I thought may have lost a bit of weight but I’ve weighed myself and I’ve gained a fucking lb! I’m so upset!

I know you’re all going to say maybe I’ve gained some muscle but I honestly have inspected my body in the mirror and I can see no difference at all either.

I’m going to stick with it but it’s so disheartening to not see any results at all.

Any suggestions on how I can speed it up?

Typical day food wise-

Breakfast:
Bowl of melon, strawberries and raspberries
Green tea

Lunch:
Home made soup (or occasionally Covent Garden soup - 200 cals)

Dinner:
Lean chicken with potatoes (minimal) and mostly veg like broccoli, fine green beans etc) all logged on calorie counter.

Snacks:
Highlights hot chocolate in the evening (38 cals) to satisfy my sweet tooth.
Banana

At the gym I tend to do a 45-60 min class 3 x a week and also 20-30 mins cardio on either the treadmill or step machine.

Any ideas how I can speed this up?

insta that’s really a shame. Flowers
Maybe try to work on that a bit alongside the fitness.
Have you looked at rebelfit on Facebook and their own website? I find them pretty motivating and cheery.

InstagramPork · 13/10/2018 09:35

@kmc1111 I’ve always gone for long walks but yes I have only just joined a proper gym and got into a regular exercise routine.
I feel like my body permanently hurts at the moment 😂 my poor arms and abs today are killing me after yesterday’s Body Blast class

I take a look at rebelfit thanks! Someone else earlier in the thread said about that too

@StealthPolarBear it is roughly 1200 calories. I have small healthy snacks in between and if it only comes to say 900 calories I sometimes add in a 4th smaller meal

I'm 5' and honestly I have to eat only 1200 calories a day even with light/moderate exercise to loose weight.

Be careful you aren't over estimating how many calories you are burning on MFP. Nyoman may be doing an hour long class with with pauses etc only doing 35 mins of actual exercise.

I think you need to give it more time too and aim to eat only half the calories you burn.

Sorry being super short does mean your calorific needs are low Sad

Teachtolive · 13/10/2018 09:51

Hi OP, I wrote a post nearly identical to this during the summer but I think one as 5 or 6 weeks in at the time with no change. I just kept going and then suddenly around 2 weeks after I posted
the changes started happening. It's very disheartening I know, but don't stop! Eating healthy and exercising is the only way to really make changes so persevere, it will eventually pay off!

reallybadidea · 13/10/2018 09:59

It could be your scales, at least in part. I have digital ones and I always weigh myself, get off and let them switch off, them get on again. The second reading is always less and is pretty consistent, whereas the first one seems fairly random but always higher than the second iyswim.

InstagramPork · 13/10/2018 10:36

@RandomMess I already thought that so I under log my exercise, so for a 45min class I log 25 mins of actual exercise

Sad I would stick with only eating half the calories you burn then Sad

Have you a very petite frame too?

Coldilox · 13/10/2018 10:46

Another vote for Team RH. I went from 12st 2lb to 9st 10lb (am 5'7 so happy with my weight now) by eating 1700 calories a day. 1200 is too low.

RandomMess · 13/10/2018 10:50

1200 is not too low when you are very short!!!

Look on line, type in requirements is you are 5'1 your calorific requirement is notably lower. At 5' I only need 1400 calories per day to maintain weight my DH is very tall I think his is 2,600 not far off double!

Coldilox · 13/10/2018 10:51

And everybody new to Tram RH says they can't possibly eat that many calories as they will gain weight, but invariably they all lose it. It's a great, sustainable way to lose weight gradually (the aim is a lb a week). I am still on the plan but just to maintain my weight, currently eating 1900 calories a day but going up to 2000 next week. Am hoping to be able to maintain on about 2100 calories a day.

Coldilox · 13/10/2018 10:53

Calorie requirement is related to current weight. It height. Regardless of height, someone who weighs 14st is going to burn more calories than someone who weighs 11st for moving the same amount. So with this plan your calorie allowance is based on weight not height.

InterstellarSleepingElla · 13/10/2018 11:00

Have you taken measurements of waist, hips etc and is there a difference there?

Also, I saw this on instagram:

It takes two weeks to feel it, four weeks to see it and 8 weeks to hear it.

Stick with it!

mussie · 13/10/2018 11:20

The app 'happy scale' is really good. You weigh however often you like (best is daily) and it gives you an average as you go. So even if you gain 1lb here and there, you can see the overall loss.

mussie · 13/10/2018 11:21

Haha tried to cover up the actual weight and missed the y axis. Ah well 😂

InstagramPork · 13/10/2018 11:47

@RandomMess I try not to use any of my burned calories if I can help it!
Yes I’m very petite framed, I’m a tiny little person (with a chubby belly and giggly thighs at the moment 😂)
As I said previously with regards to calories if I ate above 1500 I would gain weight. At 5ft 1 I certainly shouldn’t ever be eating 1700 calories a day, that’s what got me into this mess in the first place 😂😂😂
The recommendations according to the NHS is that 1500 is the max I should ever have, so I thought based on that 1200 seems a sensible amount to lose weight. I certainly don’t feel I’m starving myself in any way.

On a happier note I went out with some friends last night and they commented on how healthy my skin and hair look, so cutting out the crap food is having some benefits even if not on my frame size yet

@InterstellarSleepingElla I like that quote, it’ll be my new mantra! Grin

I'm just the same, was 6st3 pre kids and just a blob when over 9st need to be under 8 to have a waist for me it was returning to full time work- moving less and eating more...

ShadyLady53 · 13/10/2018 12:22

I’m thinking of joining TeamRH after all these positive reviews on here! OP it looks quite cheap (under £50 for the year with an affiliate code) and seems to make a lot of sense.
