16 week injections

Sorry, posting for traffic!

DD has her 16 week injections tomorrow and I'm anxious. She's been fine with her injections thus far, but is there anything that I should know about the 16 week ones?

I'll have Calpol on hand for afterwards.

I've heard that babies generally react worse to the 16 week ones, am I right?

Thank you

For us it was the new Men B vaccine that we had problems with, so 8 weeks - 3 hours of hell 4 hours after the jabs. Fine after the 12 weeks one, 16 weeks - hell again but not really worse than the 8 weeks ones. But if your LO was fine with the first lot I'd think she'd likely be ok again.

Not what you asked but for any others that were worried after having a similar experience - my 14 month old just had his 12 month lot and I'm thrilled to say that 2 days later he's so far been fine - didn't noticably react to the MenB this time.

Split the vaccinations, I did with both of my DC on the recommendation of my HV. Get all but the Meningitis this week, and then go back for that one next week.

Thank you!

@Didntwanttochangemyname is that an option? Can I just go in and ask for them not to do the MenB?

There is nothing new in the 16 week jabs: she has had all of the components before.

Didntwanttochangemyname · 11/10/2018 20:35

I'm in Scotland, so it might be different if you are elsewhere, but I just called them in the morning and asked, and it was no issue. The first time I did it they were slightly hesitant but I just politely asked that they do this, and explained that I will ensure we got the follow up vaccination.

I hope it all goes well!

MrsPatrickDempsey · 11/10/2018 20:36

What was your rationale for this?

doodledott · 11/10/2018 20:53

I did the same as @Didntwanttochangemyname after DS reacted badly to the 8 week jabs. I'm in England.

The 16 week ones were fine because we split them. Having said that, if your LO was okay with the 8 week ones, I'm sure she'll be fine this time.

I will definitely split them for any future children too. It's not worth the risk.

Just get it all done she'll be fine!
