I don't think I actually look that stupid, and I don't hide the fact that I have a decent job, so why would someone I went to school with send me this message? I've had a few over the past year similar. It insult my intelligence the whole "I'm just thinking of you and how amazing it would be for you" nonsense Angry

Well they can hardly say "Hi hun! I've sunk shitloads of money and time into this for fuck all reward, I've not heard of the sunken costs fallacy and instead I'm trying to scan you into the same shit so I can make something from it! Hope you're well!"

GunpowderGelatine · 09/10/2018 15:40

Sod GrinGrinGrin good point. But I might be less inclined to tell them to feck off if they did that

They are desperate to recruit people to make money. They haven’t assessed whether you’re stupid, wealthy, etc. They’ve just sent the same message to everyone in a frantic attempt to reel in someone, anyone. Just ignore it.

Oysterbabe · 09/10/2018 15:42

I got one the other day from someone I went to school with.

Hi hun,
I knew you'd want to know about this amazing new mascara we're stocking Shall I pop you down for one?
Xxx

Blocked.

Looking4wards · 09/10/2018 15:45

I didn't know Usborne Books were an MLM! I was going to order a coupld of books for DS from them.

EnglishRose13 · 09/10/2018 16:11

I had one from a woman who I went to school with, telling me that she could help me boost my income to help pay for treats for my child.

I do not feel the need to show off about what I have on Facebook but I took great delight in informing her that I live in a four bed detached house with a BMW sitting outside (or at least I did at the time). Also, I wasn't yet a mum, so she really didn't have a clue.

MemoryOfSleep · 09/10/2018 16:18

@lookingforwards some of the books are really good, I've seen them used by schools and you can buy online. It is an mlm company though.

Snog · 09/10/2018 16:43

Just reply "friends don't try and sell MLM crap to each other" or "real friends do not try to recruit you to their MLM scheme"

Snog · 09/10/2018 16:44

Or "I'm sorry to hear that you've signed up to an MLM scheme and I hope you don't lose money on it"

IncyWincyGrownUp · 09/10/2018 16:57

Chuck them a link to the bot watch threads on here.

Biancadelriosback · 09/10/2018 17:03

My favourite are the before and after pics.

Before- tummy pushed out, bad posture, bad lighting, too tight leggings, harsh filters.
After- fake tan applied, stomach sucked in, stood up tall, baggy leggings, allllll the filters

"Look at what shit-shake did for me! After only 3 hours! PM me for deets"

Love MLM schemes

cricketmum84 · 09/10/2018 17:21

@Biancadelriosback yeah and when you've been reeled in by the pics you pay £100 for shakes and get sent a load of copied and pasted info about what to eat and when.
MLM consultant promises to be on hand 24/7 to help you out and give support.
Then goes offline for the rest of time and 6 months later you still have a box of shitshakes in the kitchen. And then get a message along the lines of "hi hun!! You did so well on the shakes, I'm making loads of extra cash promoting my business, maybe you would like to try too!!"

Not bitter. At. All.

crosstalk · 09/10/2018 17:24

snog has it

Biancadelriosback · 09/10/2018 17:51

@cricketmum84 gutted!! I hope you gave her hell for it! What have you done with shit-shake?

cricketmum84 · 09/10/2018 18:23

It's still in a box in my kitchen!! I keep telling myself to give it another go but I quite like solid food...

Busybusybust · 09/10/2018 18:28

I may have told this story before, but worth telling again. My husband died suddenly aged 43. Some friends of his came up to see me a few weeks after (they lived about 100 miles away) and I thought ‘how kind of them to come all this way to offer support’. Oh, no. They had come to sell me some cleaning product pyramid selling scam they were involved with! I haven’t spoken to them since. Insensitive bastards.

WhenIWasAYoungWarthog · 09/10/2018 18:29

bianca I wonder if we have the same hunbot. Mine does exactly that, wearing a pair of clearly child size leggings all slouched over, then a few days later has learned to stand up straight, oil herself up and filter beyond recognition. A whole dress size in 3 days apparently, all from drinking shitter tea.

Biancadelriosback · 09/10/2018 19:01

Warthog that sounds like her yup! She does the lip plumping too. Look how small my normal lips are, oh now look (biggest, wettest, fake trout pout ever)

cricketmum84 · 09/10/2018 19:06

If anyone wants shitshakes sold cheaper I have shitloads 😂

IncyWincyGrownUp · 11/10/2018 21:30

Busybusybust Amway? They’re not only pyramidal, but fucking creepy into the bargain.

MapleLeafRag · 11/10/2018 21:33

Quick, has anyone trade-marked "shit-shake" yet?

BumbleeBeeMe · 11/10/2018 21:39

I hate all the 'I'm so lucky to be a REAL mum at home with my children and making money'. Fuck. Off.

GunpowderGelatine · 12/10/2018 00:56

YY Bumble. Although I don't quite know how life would be made easier for 'busy mums with other commitments' by selling books in a pyramid scheme. I've got enough shit to do

Busy I've read your story before and it's absolutely sickening what they did to you Thanks
