I know it's really early but I'm wanting to have everything organised before the beginning of December so we can enjoy the whole month without any organising to do.

We always do something as a family usually a takeaway or an early meal at a resteraunt (if I've spelt that right lol) then a movie and chill out.

What's everyone's plans?X

Driving to Gatwick for a New Year's Day flight. I'll pop the horn at 12:00 😂

Laiste · 09/10/2018 14:36

IF there's a roof on our living room by xmas and the new year we'll have our older 3 DCs and their boyfriends over that evening for a take away and film night (while little DD sleeps).

if not it'll be an evening exactly like all the others.

mumof2sarah · 09/10/2018 14:41

@Fivetoomany ooooo are you off anywhere nice? Hope that horn toots loud x

@Laiste preying hard for you it's done 🙏🏻

Since DC came along we've always done the same.

Choose a classic film to watch.

Buy heaps of M&S party food.

Snuggle on sofa.

Graze. Drink champagne. Watch film.

When the film has finished watch the fireworks on BBC then switch over to Jules Holland.

Lovely.

JellyBears · 09/10/2018 14:48

I’ll be on a cruise 🚢

Dahlietta · 09/10/2018 14:52

I imagine it will be the same as usual. Bed at about 10pm, possibly woken up by fireworks at midnight, at which point I will think "Oh, it's New Year" and fall asleep again. Grin

mumof2sarah · 09/10/2018 15:00

@goodbyeeee that sounds lovely xx

@JellyBears oooo that sounds like an adventurous way to start the new year xx

@Dahlietta we've spent so many New Years exactly like that and I love it. I remember one year I'd not been well so we had a takeaway, watched a film and when the kids were asleep, we fell asleep about 10:30 and we woke up to the fireworks, had a (literal) cuddle on the bed watching them out the window and then went back to sleep, it's one my most favourite ever New Years xx

Dahlietta · 09/10/2018 15:14

Haha, yes, it's sort of accidentally become our default! Maybe we'll get into doing something more interesting when the kids are older, but for now I rather like those slightly disorientating, but oddly comforting, middle-of-the-night fireworks Grin

Same as the past three years, DH, DS(12) and I pack the car up on the 29th December and drive up to the Lakes until the 2nd January.

We stay in a lovely cottage with a huge open fire, fill the fridge with lovely food and wine, and then NYE we go to a little local tapas place that does food to die for. We get back for 11pmish, put PJ’s on, get the cheesesboard and wine out and watch Jools Holland until 12, then bedtime.

It’s perfect.

mumof2sarah · 09/10/2018 15:26

@Dahlietta it really is perfection xx

@Mulberry72 that would literally be my most perfect ever new year I think, it's something we've spoken about so often just never end up booking x

Me and my boyfriend will be celebrating together in our new home!

Storm4star · 09/10/2018 15:28

New Years changed for me a bit when I spent it in a different country a few hours ahead of the UK and I was texting everyone happy new year when it was still afternoon in the UK! Made me realise that it isn't really anything special. Well, certainly not worth waiting up for! So for me it will be like any other night and I'll probably be asleep before midnight!

mumof2sarah · 09/10/2018 15:36

Ahhh @MakeAHouseAHome congratulations on your new home I hope you enjoy every last minute of the festive season x

@Storm4star I'm always an emotional wreck at new year, for no reason other than Im always emotional lol. Sometimes it's a big step for me when I've had an awful year I use it as a way to close it off but I see your point. Every one sees it in in their own way, in their own time I guess. I hope the festive period is a happy one for you xx

Same as always. DH asleep on the sofa. DD asleep upstairs. Me on other sofa watching crap films with a shit load of cheese and chocolate while surfing the net.

I 'might' wake DH in time for the fireworks but I hate the London ones so probably not.

Mulberry72 · 09/10/2018 16:02

@mumof2sarah It really is the best time after the madness of Christmas, once the 25th is finished Christmas is over for us really so escaping out of the way is heaven. We get plenty of raised eyebrows, but do we care? Not a jot!

Give me a huge open fire, a glass of Malbec, good cheese and posh chocolates and I’m in heaven Smile

Neshoma · 09/10/2018 16:05

Jammies and an early night. I don't want to spend an evening with anyone but DH and DDs and possibly MIL.

mumof2sarah · 09/10/2018 19:39

@liquidrevolution tbh that sounds like a lovely way to spend an evening, I hope you enjoy it xx

@Mulberry72 I don't blame you at all, I can't wait til we finally book something lol xx

@Neshoma that sounds like perfection to me x
