AIBU re cycle helmet use in children cycling to school

AIBU to think if secondary schools are able to enforce an exact length of regulation school skirt, the length of ties and inspect the contents of pencil cases they should be able to enforce the bringing of a cycle helmet when parking a bike on school premises?

Not one child wears a cycle helmet at our secondary school. Apparently it is totally uncool and children are bullied if seen with one. Even cycling with one hanging their handle bars is now unacceptable and is never seen.

I believe schools have a responsibility to enforce the bringing of a helmet as some of these children are only 11 years old and it is totally unacceptable that they are too scared of the older children to protect themselves.

Our school does. An immediate sanction and a parent has to come to pick up the bicycle- they are not allowed to take it home without wearing a helmet.
Secondary school, though.

Ivykaty44 Where I am, in Manchester, it's called Operation Considerate and anyone can submit video footage of dangerous driving. DH submits film from his bike cameras weekly and I've lost count of the number of drivers who've received notices, thanks to him! However, since the last driver knocked him off, I've insisted he goes on the tow path, so fewer opportunities now.

I was hit by a car whilst cycling and had life threatening internal injuries on my body, however my cycle helmet took the force of the hit to my head and likely prevented serious head injury or even death. The damage done to my helmet is not damage I'd would have liked to my head.
That being said, the whole accident would never have happened if we had better infrastructure and if cyclists, horses, walkers etc were more at the forefront of drivers' minds.
But UK infrastructure is poor. Children should wear helmets or just not ride. Unfortunately this is not easily enforceable, especially when so many adults don't wear them.

Manchester drivers seem to want to drive illegally a lot, many drive through red lights and I’ve been rooted for turning right, the road surfaces are horrendous to add to the drama
