Bit worried about baby's development

Paranoid FTM here!

I'm obviously not looking for medical advice, I'm just hoping that someone can help curb my anxiety Smile

DD is 19 weeks old. She's a happy, alert and laughs a lot. She sleeps through the night and only seems to cry when she's tired/hungry/wet nappy.

I'm just worried that she's not rolling? She does a lot of tummy time and just seems to lift her head and ... shuffle? More interested in getting the mat in her mouth. I've read that they're meant to be rolling from back to front/front to back and I'm getting nothing here.

Saying that, she likes putting weight on her legs and likes to be 'stood up' a lot.

She's a good size baby, 16lb.

Can someone please tell me that I'm worrying over nothing?

Can she sit ? I have a son with sn and he didn't sit and was very floppy at that age so the fact she is weight bearing and if she can sit I would say she is totally fine . They don't all do what they are supposed to do . My friends son never rolled it crawled but just walked at 20 months . As long as they show strength in themselves I wouldn't worry .

My son didn't roll until he was 6 months, sit until 8 months, crawl until 12 months and now walking very unsteadily at 16 months. They do it in their own time. Just keep encouraging with toys and tummy time

I wish they still gave out the old NHS birth to five book. It had a fab page with developmental windows for all the gross motor skills (sitting, crawling, walking) and cognitive skills (babbling, pointing, first words). Most of the windows are up to six months wide - so, my DS was late at all the gross motor skills (sat at 9 months, crawled at 11 months, walked at about 16 months IIRC), but within the window of "normal don't worry about it" (as opposed to "almost certainly still normal, try not to worry about it, but do check with an HCP"). FWIW, he took part in the schools cross-country championship in our county last school year, and finished quite respectably high up the finishing places for his age group!

By all means ask your health visitor, but it's almost certainly nothing to worry about (and certainly not a worry at only 19 weeks).

The only thing my son did early was grow teeth. Sadly, not an achievement you can boast about in the Christmas round-robin. Wink

DS didn’t roll until about 6 months. Walked at 15 months. Now very active, rough and tumble, 2.5 year old. No delays at all. I wouldn’t worry about this yet.

DD4 didn't roll, or sit up! Hated being left on the floor at all. We were all worried.

Then at about 9 months while on the play mat (looking grumpy) she grabbed the sofa and pulled herself up onto her feet! She then did a mixture of crawling and and cruising about holding the furniture for a month or so before letting go and walking. (Early walkers are a PITA!)

DD never rolled except for once, which I think was an accident. She also never crawled, only bum-shuffled. She hated tummy time and only ever wanted to sit/stand. She walked the day after her 1st birthday. Just wasn't interested in being horizontal.

DS rolled around everywhere like spinning top, crawled early and also walked the day after his 1st birthday.

They all just do things a bit different. DD also NEVER put anything in her mouth, ever. it was a bit odd, even the HV commented on it. Baby-led weaning was a bit of a non-starter!! Grin

My DD rolled over at 14 months! She was so slow hitting all the physical milestones and so quick with talking etc. I wouldn't be at all worried based on what you've said
