... and also your reasons? I've smoked for 17 years, never a day without one, and I just don't want to kill myself any quicker than I need to anymore but I can't seem to break the habit.

So how and why did you manage it please? (I appreciate this isn't the right place but the appropriate boards are so quiet!)

Read Allen Carr and stopped for about 6 months, then started smoking again on a drunken night out. About a year later, after another heavy night where I smoked a whole packet, woke up the next morning and thought to myself: I don’t want to do this anymore. That was it, never even had a craving in the 13 years since.

(Strangely, Allen Carr didn’t work for alcohol for me, so maybe you can only use this approach once...)

I quit a 30 a day habit with an e cig. Smoked for 20 years and haven't had a cigarette for 2 years, 4 months now

I used an e-cigarette. I also found watching my dad having to sit down and get his breath back after emptying the dishwasher and struggle for every breath for about 18 months (purely due to a life long smoking habit) before he died was a powerful motivator.

Ive been trying to quit so am watching this thread for some ideas too.

I haven't bought any cigarettes since last Tues, but have had a few since then even though I've got my vape.
I'm doing for myself mainly, but my ds is starting to notice the dangers more so is begging me to give up, he's even resorted to throwing them in the bin and breaking up a whole box.
