Leaflet distribution - how long before response?

Hi if you've ever distributed leaflets for your business, how long before you got a call? If you got a call Wink.

I've just started my cleaning business, been searching online for clients. No response, and those who were interested said it was too expensive. I charge £13 an hour in London. I've just done my first leaflet drop door to door today, about 100 leaflets. Feeling abit low tbh, I know I should have more patience though. Would appreciate if you had any advice.

Well done 👍

You don’t need to tell her you don’t have experience
Ask her for a list of everything she wants done, and visit the house so you can see how long you think it will take
Specify how you like to be paid (cash / bank transfer etc)

Also make sure your husband / sister / best mate / someone knows where you are when you visit a client for the first time - just for safety x

Unfortunately I'm in SW. Sorry, OP, but I wish you luck. I like origamiwarrior's idea of starting with a Christmas clean. Have you got any references you can provide? I think I'd probably want a recommendation or character reference before letting a stranger into my home.

Villainelle · 09/10/2018 15:27

Christmas clean is a great idea. Advertise it on FB marketplace.

Have you followed team tomm on fb for cleaning tips etc

MargaretDribble · 09/10/2018 15:34

I got my cleaner from a local Facebook page. First cleaner was £12.50 an hour including materials and she brought her own Henry. This one is £10 an hour and brings some materials, I provide others, and she uses my vacuum cleaner. If she is still with us at Christmas I will put her wages up.
Will you provide materials or will they?
As others have said it is a cleaner's market so once you start word of mouth will help.

I don’t even look at leaflets, they go straight in the bin. Couldn’t even tell you who they were from. I always tend to think that if you need to tout for business you must be crap, because if you were good you’d be busy and would have no need for leaflets. I hire people who are recommended by friends or who post regularly on social media and seem reliable.

Absolutely bollocks Sputnik!!! Leaflets are a completely reasonable way to advertise a business, I've always had a reasonable response with them.
