Just that really... we have had a rubbish few Christmas’ and I’m really looking forward to enjoying this one with my son who is 6. I would just like to hear what other people do in the build up to Christmas and Christmas eve/day as a family that they enjoy.

Also sorry for the Christmas talk so early... I’m usually abit more Scroogey about the whole thing but this year the Christmas bug has got me good Grin

We choose a new decoration for the tree every year.

We take hot chocolate in safety mugs and go driving round to see the local lights on the houses in our PJs.

The best grotto in the area that also sells Christmas trees.

Pizza Delivery and The Nightmare Before Christmas on the last day of school.

Elf on the Shelf comes on Dec 12th with a North Pole Breakfast.

Christmas Eve boxes containing Pjs, new mug, hot choc, a book, a Teddy and his stocking.

Huge takeaway on Christmas Eve.

At midnight, we sit around the tree and DH reads the Night Before Christmas, then we sprinkle reindeer food and DS goes to bed.

Nigella Christmas Muffins on Christmas Morning.

I love this thread, but I love Christmas too!

1st December the tree goes up, mince pies open and mulled wine warmed up. Also the day I allow myself to start watching Christmas films.

Christmas Eve day I go to M&S to collect our food (already ordered!) and then we just do something as a family. Last year we went to the zoo - it was really quiet. Actually the best time to go! This year we are going to the theatre for a Julia Donaldson delight.

Christmas Day is just for us. We have a normal breakfast, but with proper coffee and then open presents.

Boxing day my mum comes around with my family for a long afternoon with party food.

It’s just really relaxing and not stressy.

I promise I’m not 7 😂

Christmas eve we always go to the crib service and see most of the village crammed in too! Back home for a Chinese takeaway, putting out mince pies etc for FC
and watch Christmas film. It's lovely.

It’s not Christmas unless at some point in December I get pissed on port watching The Family Man and/or The Holiday

Prob not the sort of tradition you’re after...

DH and I watch Bad Santa, Rare Exports (a scary Norwegian Santa film) and Man Down 12 Scares of Christmas special. In force the kids to watch Elf. I eat one whole selection box to myself and have to replace it.

Forgot the main one!

We do December 1st presents. My mum did they way before the Christmas Eve boxes became popular.

I now do this for my boy. He gets his advent calendar, a new tree ornament, new Christmassy pjs, a Christmas jumper and maybe a book or a dvd.

The thinking behind this is that he'll get to enjoy these things for all of December.
