to think I shouldn't have an au pair, because I find it hard to share my house

We have a lovely French girl staying with us, but I'm simply having to tell her too many things, and it's stressing me out. I'm having to give her the same instructions.
She's actually not bad but wondering if simply having someone in my house is not for me...
She can't drive so she can't do the school run which is my biggest stress- I commute into London three times a week. I share the school run with a friend so that part is manageble.
My children are also at an after school club two evenings a week by the time they get home it's a sit down with us and then bedtime...
FYI - my mother had a major operation and my FIL is very ill (we don't think he will last till Christmas)

An au pair is nor an experienced Nanny. If she is young and inexperienced that you will have to show her things. If your biggest stress is the school run, can she walk them or go by public transport.

How long has it been? If its been a few weeks and you're not feeling as though she's making your life easier than it won't work having her in the house.
If you want her to improve write the instructions down every week, give her a copy and leave another on the fridge. However, it sounds like you just need someone who can drive.

Not really KC but we are moving nearer the school so she could walk them but it's going to be at least 8 weeks before we complete.

Do you really need a nanny or a housekeeper but thought you might get away with an au pair as it’s a cheap option?
