To not see the funny side of this?

Scrolling through my Facebook this evening, one of those advertising posts pops up, ( 7 friends like this etc), for a milestone cards company.
I think the baby ones are bad enough, but the one with the little girl who looks about 3/4 is just shocking!
Mine could have probably attempted to read that word at that age.
AIBU in not seeing the 'funny side'?

I’m a big sweater, I think this is absolutely vulgar. Yuck

KeiTeNgeNge · 06/10/2018 23:50

I agree with Annie - the positioning of the older child is awful.

Marriedwithchildren5 · 06/10/2018 23:51

So you've not made the connection of shared advertisement? I didn't even know about this till you posted it! Cunt is only offensive if used in an offensive way. Get over the word and all you have left is children exploited on social media.

Lichtie · 07/10/2018 00:05

Hungryhippo... Sure, it won't let you down 😉

Agree it's in poor taste

EilaLila · 07/10/2018 00:22

married try saying cunt in any sort of professional environment or even on public transport and see what response you get, even if you say it in a non offensive way. Not that I agree it’s a non offensive word, swear words are meant to be crude and I say this as someone who happily swears but I know when it’s appropriate. Would you advise your young teenager daughter to check her tits for lumps or her breasts? Not that tits is a swear word but language matters.

Marriedwithchildren5 · 07/10/2018 00:53

EilaLila I found a lump when I checked my tits. Apparently calling it a breast made no difference!!?? 🤦‍♂️ Are you really asking me to articulate telling my children to check theirs in a non offensive manner?? I really need to get of mumsnet tonight!

EilaLila · 07/10/2018 01:07

I’m genuinely very, very sorry and I didn’t mean to upset you. Flowers I hope you are doing as well as can be. This is a sincere apology.

My point stands about language but I would never mean that example to hurt anyone who has been through that. Good night, take care.

Marriedwithchildren5 · 07/10/2018 01:29

EilaLila Not offended. A good 10 years ago. Completely appreciate what you said though. I used it to make a point and probably shouldn't have done.

We'll agree to disagree on language. Wink

Good night and take care back.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 07/10/2018 01:32

There is no ‘funny side’ to any of it. It’s depressing to say the least

frogface69 · 07/10/2018 01:52

I wouldn't say I was a prude, but that is horrible. Certainly not the babies, and the girl have no understanding of what they are doing. This will be around forever.Forever. sweet cheeses. ..the pose is inappropriate.

hungryhippo90 · 07/10/2018 10:32

Grin Lichtie... oh god! Why do so many of my spellings get corrected?

I read out your reply a few times, head askew... not understanding. I read my post, and Aha!

Maybe swearer isn’t an actual word🙃...

ferrier · 07/10/2018 10:39

Cunt is always an offensive word.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 07/10/2018 15:45

I quite like the “I’m fucking fabulous” one. But I swear in an every day way. My kids hear me swear but don’t repeat. I’ve even gently swore at them (in an oh piss off sort of way) the cunt one is too fucking far though. That’s an awful word and I generally don’t like it or use it. Either way, I don’t understand why people would put their child’s picture out there with something silly like this.

GabsAlot · 08/10/2018 09:16

i dont likke the c wors i know i'll get grief but ive never liked it personal opnion my dh wold find this hilarious though

ferntwist · 08/10/2018 09:19

ShadyLady they sound awful! Your poor SIL (or does she think it’s just as hilarious?).

OP agree with you completely. I feel really sorry for the babies and children in those pictures. It’s exploitative.

ShadyLady53 · 08/10/2018 09:49

@ferntwist their mother lost custody of them. She was a nightmare!

Instacrumb · 08/10/2018 09:53

Ugh. I have an odd sense of humour but for goodness sake. Reminds me of that instagrammer that refers to her children as sleep twats, and has had t-shirts made for them and everyone finds it hilarious putting their child in a top referring to them as a twat. I know it's meant to be tongue in cheek but its not even catchy and makes no sense.
