Decay or fluorosis any dentists??

Dentist said just keep brushing day and night and we do, she thinks its a "touch" of flurosis, just wondering if anyone has any experience and what can I do? Dentist suggested using an adult toothpaste on her as it has more scrubbing power?

Fluorosis would mean that you were taking in too much fluoride while pregnant - those teeth are calcified in utero.
Where do you live- is the water fluoridated?
Difficult to tell what it is from a picture.

Chrisinthemorning · 06/10/2018 13:29

Does your DC have a bottle/ drink anything except water after night time toothbrush?
Do they have juice ever?

Goingcrazyah · 06/10/2018 13:31

We live in the north west I'm not too sure about the water. She doesn't have a bottle but she is still breastfed. She doesn't really eat anything bad, she has a yoghurt as a snack, apples bananas and pears.
She sometimes drinks juice, cordial but rarely.. she sometimes wakes up for a breastfeed in the night, which i am trying to stop

Looks like enamel hypoplasia to me.

ghostyslovesheets · 06/10/2018 13:52

I have 3 kids - all born in the same water area - one has fluorosis - two do not - so please don't take the 'you had too much fluoride' comment to heart - it's not your fault

Mine has just had treatment (she's 14) following brace removal, at the dental hospital - micro dermabrasion and bleaching - it's worked really well

I wouldn't use a harsher toothpaste or one with more fluoride - the damage tends to be too deep for that BUT I had some great advice on here from people more qualified than me - hopefully someone will pop along soon :)

soundofmysoul · 06/10/2018 13:55

i second enamel hypoplasia

Goingcrazyah · 06/10/2018 13:57

Thanks- it does look like that. How do you treat it- or can you not?
Will her adult teeth be the same? At the moment she won't let rhe dentist open her mouth to have a look so i don't know what to do!

Has it always been there or just developed? If it has been there since the teeth came through then it’s most likely developmental; however if they came through looking normal and have changed to this appearance then it’s most likely decay as fluorosis would occur during the development of the teeth not after eruption

Goingcrazyah · 06/10/2018 14:04

They came through but got worse.

Did you have antibiotics when pregnant as some can affect the teeth in the foetus?

Goingcrazyah · 06/10/2018 14:13

No, I didn't

Loads of reasons for enamel hypoplasia.
Her adult teeth may be fine when they erupt there is no way of saying.
If they are effected too then things can done for cosmesis- enamel microabrasion, paints and veneers etc.

Hey! Is there any updates? I have a 14 month old who appears to have something similar but due to the epidemic no one is booking appointments or allowing us to register! Please help if you can
