DPD and neighbour

More of a WWYD but my partner thinks IABU.

I had a parcel delivered by DPD. We have had issues with them in the past with damaged parcels etc. When signing for my parcel, the driver told me that I had to take the parcel in for a house a few doors up. As I don't know them, I said no. He then told me that he had already put a card through the door stating our house number. I told him that I would not take the parcel.

He was aggressive throughout the delivery and really trying to push me in to taking a parcel for people we don't know. My partner thinks I was being unreasonable but I didn't want to take a parcel that could be damaged and have DPD wash their hands of any responsibility.

So AIBU? I have spoken to the company about the driver's behaviour. If he hadn't have been so aggressive, I probably would have taken it in.

Yanbu and if the DPD driver had spoken to me like that I'd be complaining too. I'm more than happy to take in parcels for any neighbour that I know, (and do on a regular basis) even if we're only on waving or nodding terms, but no way would I take in a parcel for someone I didn't know who lived a few doors away - and I'd be annoyed if any of my parcels were left with strangers too.

Our local DPD drivers are lovely and I always take in parcels for my neighbours (even from Y*l if they haven't already shoved it over a wall or in the bin). But the driver shouldn't have put a card through the door before asking you. What if you'd been out?

I have to say that our DPD drivers are brilliant - courteous, efficient etc. No probs at all with them. At least they do give you an hour time window when to expect the delivery and give you the chance to go on line and tell them you'll be out, provide a safe place to deliver to etc.

He had no right to put a note though first and then tell you that you were expected to take the parcel. Do they get measured on deliveries or undelivered stuff? I'm guessing so given what you describe.

It is a shame that a few bad delivery drivers can give a company a bad name. Last week I had two DPD deliveries on the same day with different drivers. Both drivers went the extra mile to take the heavy parcels around to the back of the house and into my conservatory for me, and one of them actually couldn't get the lorry down the driveway so he had to carry it from the road as well. I have no problem with DPD - Hermes however are a completely different kettle of fish - don't get me started on them.
