maddening just says full time, then it states

Flexible attitude to hours of work, potential evening meetings, may be required to work out of hours.

Are the monthly income figures gross or net? If net, the new job would only pay about £150 per month more, pro rata. And "additional hours as needed" could be supremely un-family-friendly!

Queenie8 · 04/10/2018 18:07

Divide each jobs salary into an hourly rate. I think you'll find the higher earning role is actually paying less per hour.

But it is your decision. You have to decide whether you need the extra income but sacrifice working longer hours.

blueskiesandforests · 04/10/2018 18:08

The new job actually pays less per hour then.

QuickPollPlease · 04/10/2018 18:13

Can't do salary divide as no specific hours given.

The figures are net.

Your youngest will probably need a lot of support through year 7 - plus all the school meeting etc homework and friendship issues

They really miss a parent at home after school and you'd be rushing to get food ready and put your feet up

I moved from school hours to full time and hated it so much I walked out
Kids just started year 7

Now back in school hours and I'm not going anywhere!!

Leafyhouse · 04/10/2018 18:15

I wouldn't bother. Those holidays are going to be expensive to fill. I think it'd be wise to wait until they're out of school, then go for a higher-paid job, because there's also the chance it'll come with a bigger pension contribution.

SillySallySingsSongs · 04/10/2018 18:18

Those holidays are going to be expensive to fill.

OPs DC are of an age where the holidays very soon won't need 'filling'

Is school hours in your current job 30 hours per week?

blueskiesandforests · 04/10/2018 18:41

If one job is 1170 hours per year (30 per week, 39 weeks per year) and the other 1880 (40 hours per week, 47 weeks per year) then:

your current job pays £12.31 per hour and the other one £11.49 per hour.

QuickPollPlease · 04/10/2018 18:57

blueskies thanks, current job is just under 30 hours so even more of a difference.
