Mystery thong

Hi, I've name changed for this as I'm worried it will out my other posts.

Yesterday while my dd (2) was at nursery I decided to fully clean her bedroom and get rid of some stuff in preparation for Christmas and my 2nd baby due in feb all fine. Rest if my house is always pretty clean and organised I'm a bit of a neat freak.

Yesterday after nursery me and dh took dd out for dinner and came straight home I out dd to bed and put the gate across so she can't get out of her bedroom.

This morning when I woke up I let dd out the bedroom and she followed me into the bathroom where I spotted something around her neck was then I realised it was a pair of women's underwear a green thong I didn't recognise the underwear and so i know for sure they are not mine. I removed the underwear from dds beck and inspected them to realise they were dirty and also had speckles of white paint on them.

I went downstairs and told dh who was just as confused/mortified as I was I had already put the underwear in the bin I went to get them out of the bin to realise they wernt there so that led me to think I'd totally lost my mind I'm 22 weeks pregnant so for a few moments was quite scared I'd imagined then the whole thing but then i found them in a nappy bag on the side. They are now binned. We have asked everyone we can think off including mil and nobody has claimed these thongs I dont know what to make of it!

I dont think their anything to do with dh we are happily married 2nd baby on the way and no problems at all plus he is a terrible liar and his shock was totally genuine.

yup behind the radiator- we dislodged a pair of pants and a tea towel from one of ours- probably from being dried on them by last tenants

wafflyversatile · 04/10/2018 15:44

We don't know he took them out of the bin do we?

Underwear has a knack of appearing in and disappearing from all manner ofunexpected places.

Unless there is another reason to be concerned I would forget about it.

greenseggsanham · 04/10/2018 15:45

This is a really bizarre story 😂

Agentornika · 04/10/2018 15:45

What makes you now think you didn't bin them?

THEsonofaBITCH · 04/10/2018 15:46

LTB - RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!
Okay, we have the typical MN response done. Sounds like they were there from previous people living there from the description; usually the simplest answer is the right one - sounds like you jarred them loose when cleaning, DD found them, you binned them, DD grabbed them again and put in "her" bag - case closed. If you came on saying you have long suspected DH of infidelity and now have the proof I might change the response but in light of the scant details, go on unaffected but aware if you feel warranted.

Nurserymom · 04/10/2018 15:46

Haha no sorry I didn't make myself clear the first time he didn't take them out the bin I forgot to actually bin them but was sure I had. They did have paint on but they were dirty not in a dusty way Envy (not envy)

Did your dh remove them from the bin?

LakieLady · 04/10/2018 15:48

Loving PantCatBastard!

greenseggsanham · 04/10/2018 15:49

I'd be inclined to think they were freshly there, if they were dusty

greenseggsanham · 04/10/2018 15:49

Werent**

THEsonofaBITCH · 04/10/2018 15:51

How much dust can a freshly worn (around the neck by DD) pair of ass floss have on them? Confused

greenseggsanham · 04/10/2018 15:55

Well if they were stuffed down the back of a radiator for a few years I'd expect them to LOOK old and dirty (not worn dirty).

Nurserymom · 04/10/2018 15:58

I have found it quite funny but really strange aswell

Can you keep an eye out for some black socks? We have lost a number of them.

NB they definitely won’t be in pairs.

Nurserymom · 04/10/2018 16:01

Mum I will keep my eyes peeled!

cantfindname · 04/10/2018 16:10

I wouldn't rule out anything. I am having a massive clear out and have found a jumper and pair of smart trousers, plus a lot of other clothes. that I honestly have no recollection of buying.

We all do daft things and I bet they are either yours or, as someone else said, they were behind a radiator and only tiny hands could reach them.

Nagaram · 04/10/2018 16:12

I found a leopard skin thong on my Dd’s teddy’s head. I also went hunting for the culprit and turns out it was a friend of mine who stayed about 3 months previously. She had no shame in telling me - she wondered where they were. Dd thought it was a teddy mask!

Crinkle77 · 04/10/2018 16:14

Have you asked your daughter where she found them?

ACatsNoHelpWithThat · 04/10/2018 16:16

Do the paint specks match the paint you recently decorated the room with?

Nurserymom · 04/10/2018 16:18

Well its just magnolia paint which was what the room was before so it could of been from there. Their not mine I dont wear thongs and haven't done for many years.

Dd said she got them from her bedroom.

An adult woman's bikini top turned up in my DD's bedroom. As I am a single parent and have never worn a bikini, I can only assume it came from behind the radiator or some such. DD was definitely not the wearer. I had long since painted her room, too, so I think things can lurk for ages before they are discovered...

RomanyRoots · 04/10/2018 16:23

why remove them from the bin. sounds like someone's playing with your head.
Also, why should you being 22 weeks pregnant mean you were imagining it?

Nurserymom · 04/10/2018 16:34

Well you hear about mh issues presenting during pregnancy and post birth I had pnd when I had dd so i just thought I might of been experiencing something like that then I had myself 2 cups of juice. I wasn't really with it this morning so i had forgotten to put them in the bin but must if imagined myself doing it and left them on the side instead to do something else.

One of my cats is also an underwear thief though prefers socks to pants
Will even unpair them from cleaning washing pile and run off with a single one which he hides - often behind a cushion or under some furniture
To be found weeks or months later when I’m having a more thorough than usual clean

ShowOfHands · 04/10/2018 16:46

We used to have a cat who stole knickers.

When we removed our kitchen radiator last year, we found several items of clothing including knickers and a vest, a roll of wrapping paper and a book. All of them belonged to the previous owner. All speckled with paint.
