To not want my landlord to come round and to want an electrician...

Long time lurker.. really hoping my landlord isn't an MN user.

Had someone come round to service my boiler yesterday.. he found the boiler was very very old and pretty much on its last legs. When he was fiddling about with it he accidentally fused the electrics- it was something to do with the heating (honestly no idea) but this now means I have no heating (and two small children!!) he told me I need to contact my landlord and tell her I need an electrician to change the clocks (not 100% sure what it means as I'm very stupid) but I told my landlord immediately to which she responded she would contact an electrician immediately....
she then sent me a message soon after saying an electrician who's worked in the house previously has told her all I need to do is press a button and the heating will work again, and if that didn't work that she would come round and have a look at it...

The button didn't work and i fear if she comes round to fiddle about with it she'll just trip the electrics again. I don't think she's qualified for any of this stuff and I feel like she just wants to come and snoop at my house as we had to have words previously about her "popping round" for absolutely no reason and it makes me feel SO uncomfortable.

I really just want her to send an electrician. AIBU?

We had this issue when we rented an old property years ago. The landlord wanted to send his dad over to check the electrics due to ongoing issues.
I asked the estate agent if dad was a qualified electrician, no, he wasn't. The EA sent around the accredited electrician they used at our request and billed the landlord for their services.
Do you have your rental managed through an EA?

@Jozen yes managed through an EA!

If you are managed through an lettings agent, I don't know why you're going to the landlord directly. The whole point of them managing it is that they sort out these issues for you. I would just go straight to them.

In that case OP, go through EA and insist on qualified electrician.
I would also cease any direct communication between you and the landlord, always go through the EA. That is what they are paid for and your arse is covered if anything happens to the property e.g if there was an electrical fire, she could turn around and say you'd never mentioned it etc etc.
Always back up any verbal contact with EA with email too.
Good luck.
