Not at all. I have some serious irrational dislikes. Sometimes they can be just normal words, or how people say them.
"Moist" is one of them. Grin

Do Americans use the word 'autumnal'? 'Fally' or 'fall-like' don't really have the same flair...

How come no-one uses "springy" or springnal"... I may do this just to be a twat Wink

Americans say ‘fallal’. Grin

How do you mean people just used to say autumn? The two words don’t interchange. Its like dressy and dress, or lump and lumpy ordog and , er dogging.

@freezerbird vernal means spring-like, really? Hmm. Learn something new every day and all that.

Springlike = vernal

BertrandRussell · 03/10/2018 13:31

As in vernal equinox.

Autumny reporting for duty!! I imagine it's a transformer that changes from a pine cone to some sort of bicycle......

Autumn is a noun - I like the autumn.

Autumnal is an adjective - I like the colours in an autumnal garden.

Or... I like the colours of the garden in autumn. Grin

But why don’t the other seasons get the same treatment?

Springal
Summeral
Winteral?

Wrong. And they are far superior seasons.

They sort of do, but they use the Latin word for the season, so summery is estival and wintery is hibernal. I suppose spring-like would be primaveral.

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness ...

Presumably "Autumn" displaced "fall" around about the time we started spelling "check" "cheque" ?

The one for spring is 'vernal' but I'll admit that one comes up less!

Of course it is! I feel like a twat now. Grin

Maybe because it's word shape is a little close to "venereal" Hmm. Which could, I suppose, be construed as a ailment of the spring .....

Autumnal, Summery, Spring like, Wintry.
What's the problem ~ certainly not a new or unusual word.

If talking about my crafting colour palette for sping, I would say “spring time colours” rather than spring like. Vernal sounds like Vernon Confused
