Is it really that difficult....

So me and dh thought it would be nice to do a raffle at our business with a hamper full of things we sell and the money made to be for an eczema charity.... nice and easy and supporting a charity that is very close to us. And I did some innocent googling and found that you need a license to do so and will cost about £40. Then you need to fill in a load of forms after the charity proving this and that.... why is it so difficult to just try and raise awareness. Surely this is just silly or is it just me?

You have good intentions op, but you need to stop any old chancer being able to run a 'raffle' for charity then scarper with the money raised or actually have no prize at all.

Because people are thieving bastards unfortunately!, can ask the council if there is a way of doing a work fundraiser rather than a raffle?

Oh well yes I didn't think of that Confused I swear small things are made very difficult in this day and age!

Not possible Unfortuantly. We have a retail shop but a large footfall but just me and dh working there so we thought it would be nice and to do it close to christmas... I am sure we will. It's just frustrating

I think this is why local rotary and round table groups are popular with businesses?

Is it something you can offer directly to the charity If they have a larger christmas raffle?

clueless101101 · 02/10/2018 17:52

Not sure rotary will have to have a look into it
