Aibu to not control my facial expressions?

I am very controlled in what I say and am polite to a fault.

However

I think the repression has spilled over into having an over expressive face. Someone said to me ‘smile, it might never happen’ and I rolled my eyes. I hadn’t even realised I had done it until someone pointed it out.

I can’t help it. If I am surprised I have a cartoon surprised face. If someone says something I think is stupid I get a ‘wtf’ face. If I’m happy I beam, if something is funny it’s all over my face.

My teacher used to tell me I had a sarcastic look about me. I think it was based on her teaching rather than anything else.

I think I’ve also got a bitchy resting face too

Grin Mine scares me, I've seen it because some idiot took a photo when I didn't know! Bastard!!

"Bitchy resting face" is a horribly sexist thing though, in that your face is normal, just not as decorative/pleasing as normally acceptable for a woman. Men who have this expression don't have to worry or apologise for it because it's not an issue for them.

Nah, my resting face isn't normal.

Oh crikey OP, I'm with you. I actually got it brought up by my ex manager at a 121, once, as an actual 'black mark' against my performance. Couldn't help it, still can't. I'm accused of being rude, but I'm just open. I do keep my mouth shut though, so at least my mouth doesn't say what I feel (I'd probably have been sacked many times over!). I do try hard though, and look down into my lap if someone in a meeting who I know comes out with a load of pants on regular occasions is speaking - that way they can't see me! I wish I had a poker face but it's never going to happen!

I am one of those people who can say one thing but my face says another I do try to hide what I’m thinking but I just can’t. I’ve been told by friends it’s quite funny at times especially when my BF asked what I thought of some shoes she was trying on, mouth said they are great ..face said wtf?

I know plenty of blokes who have bitchy resting faces! Men can look exactly like that, one of my mates has it to a tee. Maybe it should be termed 'bastard resting face'?

AssassinatedBeauty · 02/10/2018 18:04

Yes, as I said men do have the same "look" but there isn't a term for it and it isn't an issue or a thing to think about.

ChicagoLil · 02/10/2018 18:17

I think I've lost a lot of friends via my face Sad

FaithHopeAndSkulduggery · 02/10/2018 19:13

I need Botox to freeze my face.
Not quite serious.
