Get a water pistol and spray the cat if you see it coming into your garden. It will soon stop coming.

Are there some sprinklers that turn on when someone is near? Grin There might be. I'd throw the scooped poop back into the owner's garden.

catpooproblems · 30/09/2018 23:31

I can’t prove it’s their cats but they are the ones that I’ve seen in my garden. I can’t send my son out to play in the garden before checking it for poo Angry

You can't. Foxes might poo there too. It's a hazard you should accept living around people.

Poppins2016 · 30/09/2018 23:43

Water pistols/garden hose.

Eliminate any dry/sandy areas of soil if possible (aka the perfect litter tray).

Make a racket (clap hands/bang on saucepan) when you see the cats in your garden.

Don't forget that it might not always be a cat... Foxes will often use gardens too.

tazzle22 · 30/09/2018 23:46

Agree it's a part of town living but there are more effective and less time consuming ways of deterring cats from the garden. Some don't like orange peel or citrus smell ... spray garden with essential oil or water you've soaked orange peel and segments in.

There are other suggestions if you Google Wink

BackforGood · 30/09/2018 23:47

They don't like pepper on the ground.......

catpooproblems · 30/09/2018 23:47

I’ve lived here for 10 years and two neighbours have moved here in the past two years, both with cats and that’s when this started. I’m ready to strangle the cats!

Anything like making noise or spraying requires you to be present to catch each and every cat each time , several times to be effective....rather difficult and time consuming I think.

ILovePierceBrosnan · 30/09/2018 23:52

These harmless spikes are good. They don’t damage cats but they don’t like walking on them. We’ve found that and a terrier (who likes to chase small furry things) a great deterrent. No blood has been shed before people start attacking me for allowing my pet in my own garden.

Cat shit deniers aka cat owners will tell you their cat doesn’t/ it’s a wild animal/you can’t do anything to stop them and you’re cruel for daring to consider doing anything to prevent your child playing in their cats shit.

m0therofdragons · 30/09/2018 23:55

Cats hate curry so curry powder and a curry plant.

Samantha2018 · 30/09/2018 23:57

This is my life! They sit on the wall staring at me! Nothing I have tried has worked I've not tried curry powers yet though.

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 01/10/2018 00:01

There’s a spray you can get which deters the cat but doesn’t harm it. Are the cats crapping on grass? That’s unusual, they normally go for some soil or grit.

jcsp · 01/10/2018 00:11

Get a bigger cat or a dog.

Should do the trick. Our cats never go into our dog owning neighbours garden.

SpoonBlender · 01/10/2018 00:19

Yep, get your own. That's how Terry Pratchett started.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 01/10/2018 00:23

We put small patches of flat chicken wire down at someone's recommendation - seemed to work. Cats hate encountering it apparently but it does them no harm.

I like cats, and don't mind them being around our garden, but it was becoming a problem with young DC running around if we'd missed some of it.

imamum21 · 01/10/2018 00:25

poundstretcher sells scent off works great for cats, under £2 a bottle, they are like granules. doesnt harm them they hate the scent so stay away

Smokeahontas · 01/10/2018 00:27

Shit in your neighbours garden and see if they appreciate it.

Italiangreyhound · 01/10/2018 00:39

I've heard of this, never used it since we have a cat!

Cat Repellent - 0.5kg By Silent Roar

Or you could try Set of Three Cat Scarers

ILovePierceBrosnan · 01/10/2018 07:55

Cats scarers failed to work in my old garden, cat repellent needed replacing every time it rained and I have a big garden so cost is a factor.
Chicken wire on gravel worked for a friend however it’s a pain to have chicken wire all over your gravel.
One of my friends lives next door to a woman who uses cat litter and has trained the cat to use that circumventing the issue for her neighbours.
When I was a child dogs used to crap everywhere and people never picked up because of the same attitude of they need to go, what do you suppose we do?!? I think it needs the same attitude shift for people to recognise allowing their pet to shit in someone else’s garden is not acceptable.
